New Delhi, 26 February 2019: The CSR TIMES, Clean Action and Assessment Group (CAAG) & Indian Achievers Forum successfully organized the National Swacchata Summit & Awards (NSSA 2019) on 19th February 2019 at the Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The programme was organized with the aim to encourage and recognize Corporate groups, Public Sector Undertakings, Small and Medium companies, Start-ups, Corporate Foundations, NGO’s, Central and State Governments. Municipalities, Village Panchayats and Government Agencies and Consulting Organisations/Consultants, who have delivered successful CSR projects in Water, Sanitation, Health, Hygiene and Waste Management. The Awards seek to appreciate project specific impacts made by the organisations in particular thematic areas, to set benchmark in project planning, identification of partners and delivery of results with significant positive impact on the beneficiaries.
The CSR TIMES and CAAG Awards focuses on honouring and celebrating the innovation and significant contributions made by Corporate Organisations, Government Agencies, Institutions and Local governments and others organisations in the areas of Sanitation, Health and Hygiene, Waste Management, Clean City and Village development, Clean Environment and Pollution and Control and related awareness and education campaigns, which in turn help in transforming the society and the country.
The Summit and Awards Ceremony was inaugurated by the Guest of Honour Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs, who enlisted the achievements of the government under Swacchh Bharat Abhiyan and the need for sustained efforts. Padma Shri Dr. K.K. Aggarwal and Ms. Stuti Kacker also graced the inaugural session. Shri Harish Chandra, Editor, CSR Times and Co-Chairman, NSSA 2019, Mr. Amit Goenka, Director & Associate Editor, CSR Times & Indian Achievers Forum and Shri S. Ravishankar, President, CAAG and Chairman – NSSA 2019, welcomed the guests.
Chief Guest Shri Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, in his special address emphasized on Swachh Bharat Strategy and the need for everyone’s contribution in making India, a clean and hygienic nation.
During the first thematic Session on Sanitation, Hygiene and Health, Ms Anju Bhalla, Joint Secretary – Dept of Science and Technology chaired thesessionand highlighted theimportance of sanitation and hygiene and its link to good health. Dr. Shymala Mani, Head- Swachh Bharat Mission, National Institute of Urban Affairs; Mr. S. Ravishankar, President, Clean Action and Assessment Group; Mr. Amrutraj, Proprietor, Green Gardens deliberated about the awareness and behavioural change that is required across various levels, project oriented approach to CSR projects for sustainability and leveraging technology.
Dr. Sunil Pandey, Head – Waste Management, TERI chaired the technical session on Waste Management – Need for an integrated approach, shared TERI’s initiatives on the subject. Ms Mohini D Singh, CEO, Max India Foundation and Shri NK Bharali, Chairman, CAAG highlighted the current challenges and need for an Integrated Approach in Waste Management.
Shri Sailesh, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs; Mr. Sanjay Chaubey, CMD, ECIL and Shri Ram Mohan Mishra, Addl Secretary and Development Commissioner, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) also delivered special addresses. The post-lunch session was graced by Guests of Honour H.E. Mr J. Goburdhan, High Commissioner, Mauritious and Dr Ashutosh Karnatak, Director (Projects), GAIL.
The Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour felicitated all the award winners. Life Time Achievement award was conferred on Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder of Sulabh International. During the Summit Indian Achievers Award also given to the few MSMEs for their outstanding contribution towards business and social service.
The Summit was well attended by more than one three hundreds delegates from all companies, public sector enterprises, Corporate Foundations, MSMEs & NGOs working for Indian populace central/State Government, municipalities, Village panchayat, SMEs, Start-ups.

National Swachhata Summit and Awards & Indian Achievers Awards were a big success with leading speakers and extensive participation from government, business organisations, foundations, NGOs, SMEs and Start-ups. At the concluding of the ceremony, the participants pledged for continuously promoting and adopting swachhata practices and contribute actively in the accomplishment of the dream of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to make our country Clean, healthy and hygienic, by 2nd October, 2019.
