India Fights COVID Challenge in Letter and Spirit

We are amidst a pandemic and economic crisis. The severity of it has shaken the human race but has not broken its spirits. CSR Times epitomizes that spirit of the human race and has brought out the June issue, highlighting the efforts of our leaders, business and ordinary citizens of their fight against COVID-19. Leading from the front, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, realized that the country would require considerable resources to fight the virus. A visionary, he realized that a fund is needed that can work to help the poor and needy quickly. The fund has to be free of rules that delay disbursement than hastening its delivery to the beneficiaries. ‘Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) was set up as a Charitable Trust. We have made this as our cover story of this issue to highlight the vision and mission behind this fund. As a responsible magazine, we believe, that facts have to be told upfront and analysis later.

This issue of CSR Times has been brought out for you, overcoming many logistics and editorial challenges. It reflects contribution and the commitment of individual people and businesses during COVID-19, which is still challenging us. Over the years, public sector enterprises have silently contributed to society. They are filling up the gaps, to ensure that every section of the society moves along with the progress made by the country. Through their humanitarian efforts, PSUs have attempted to bridge all kinds of divide—social, economic, digital and others. Stories of individuals (COVID-Warriors) and KVN, I am confident will be appreciated and applauded by readers across the country. The evil virus will soon be defeated, and economic revival, with the slew of policy measures taken by the Government to improve all the sectors, has already begun. This augurs well for our country. Going forward, we are confident that more support and commitment will pour in to supplement the efforts of the government. We have already seen the glimpses of that during the first & second quarter of this calendar year. Hope with trust is the biggest strength that humanity has for its survival.
