Role of CSR in India

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to the efforts that businesses make to operate in a manner that is ethical, socially responsible, and environmentally sustainable. In India, CSR is governed by the Companies Act of 2013, which requires certain categories of companies to allocate at least 2% of their net profits towards CSR activities. These activities could include initiatives related to education, healthcare, the environment, and other areas of social and economic development.

The goal of CSR in India is to encourage businesses to take an active role in addressing social and environmental issues, and to contribute to the overall development of the country.
