The Murty Trust, which is the family foundation of Mr. Narayana Murthy and Mrs Sudha Murthy, has extended a 5 crore support for 5 years to the Reach to Teach Foundation. Reach to Teach is rolling out a Comprehensive School Transformation programme in the North East. Seed support will be provided to Reach to Teach along with strengthening the sustainability and credibility of its’ programme through this grant.
Through this partnership Reach to Teach engages with the Education Department of State Governments, and works in close coordination with stakeholders comprising parents and the community at large. A key thrust is also on strengthening the educators or teachers. As part of its current tripartite agreement with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and NITI Aayog, the organisation is planning an expansion of its work in Tripura and Meghalaya.
Expressing his appreciation for the work that Reach to Teach is executing in the North East, Mr Murthy said that the Foundation’s initiatives with the North East as the focal point was welcome. He stated that the Comprehensive School Transformation Programme would ably support and further the enhancement of learning outcomes of the children studying in government schools.
Ratna Viswanathan, Chair of the Board of Reach to Teach Foundation thanked the Murty Trust and said that their school Transformation Toolkit was designed to yield a significant improvement in the education outcomes. The objective was to strengthen teaching and learning outcomes through the initiative of a restoration of the teacher agency and make learning a joyful experience. Their endeavor was aimed at creating public good and the Murty Trust grant would go a long way in furthering that.
The Reach to Teach Foundation was set up in 2018 with the objective of strengthening learning in government schools and enhancing learning outcomes as well as instilling confidence in the children and improving their chances in life.
