21st December, 2023: Avashya Foundation, the CSR arm of Allcargo Group, an Indian born global logistics conglomerate successfully completed its Women Empowerment and Livelihood project for the marginalized women in Maharashtra. Under this project, the women from the underprivileged communities in Maharashtra, were offered three months basic and advanced tailoring and personality development training. The marginalized and underprivileged women at Dhamani and its surrounding villages – Panvel, taluka in Raigad district and Ishwar Nagar in Digha and Navi Mumbai benefitted from this in terms of upliftment and empowerment.
Sankalp Manav Vikas Sanstha an NGO that is working towards socio-economic upliftment by promoting textile-based entrepreneurship for the underprivileged communities in Maharashtra, had collaborated in the implementation of this initiative.
Dr. Nilratan Shende, Head – CSR, Allcargo Group while speaking at a felicitation program held at the training & production centre in Dhamani and Ishwar Nagar handed over certificates to 240 women beneficiaries who had completed the training at the respective centres.
Since 2021, the Allcargo Group has been implementing textile-based training at the Dhamani and Ishwar Nagar. Over 410 women have been impacted by this project. The beneficiaries of this project constituting more than 65 percent have joined the production centres to stitch bags and apparels. The children of the beneficiaries are the recipients of income earned by them which is further invested in their health and education. After the successful completion of the three-month training, a beneficiary becomes self-reliant either by working at the production centres or at home.
Head – CSR, Allcargo Group, Dr. Nilratan Shende speaking about this initiative said that the women empowerment and livelihood project was in keeping with the Allcargo Group’s philosophy of creating a positive social and economic impact on the community through its’ CSR activities. He mentioned that they were very happy to see the participation from women from Dhamani and Ishwar Nagar who belonged to the less privileged sections. The main intent of the project he elucidated was not just to offer training in tailoring but to provide them a holistic livelihood, professional training support and lief skill to make them self-reliant in order to create a better future for themselves and their families. He also expressed his gratitude to Sankalp Manav Vikas Sanstha for partnering with them in this mission. By 2024 they aimed to train 400 women under this project and provide 60-70 percent of trained women, self-employment in their locality.
