Licious achieves Plastic Neutrality reaffirming its’ commitment to grow sustainably

3 June 2023: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Indian meat & seafood brand Licious, strengthened its efforts to grow sustainably by announcing its commitment to be plastic-neutral. The brand announced that in association with sustainability partner Recykal, which is a digital solutions company in circularity and sustainability it had already achieved plastic neutrality for FY2022 and taken strides in the environment friendly direction by being “Responsibly Licious.”

Recykal assisted Licious in the successful recovery of 530 metric tons of plastic waste in the financial year 2021-22 through its Plastic Neutrality solution. This had helped in offsetting the brand’s plastic footprint for that year. The plastic waste that was prevented from ending up in landfills due to these efforts was equivalent to the weight of the world’s largest passenger plane – an Airbus A380.

This responsible management of plastic waste highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability.

Rajesh. K, Chief Sustainability and Quality Officer at Licious, commenting on being “Responsibly Licious’ ’said that the company believes in setting new standards and raising benchmarks for the industry. They have been implementing ESG (environmental, social and governance) standards across their operations. He further added that their pledge to being plastic neutral was indeed a milestone in their journey of being a responsible and sustainable brand.

Ekta Narain, Co-Founder & Chief Business Officer, of Recykal while congratulating Licious commented that they were proud to have supported the  journey of Licious in its commitment to sustainability  and achieving plastic neutrality , going beyond EPR compliance.

In FY 2022 Licious in a bid to offset its’ plastic footprint recovered plastic waste from sensitive areas of India and processed it by using approved recycling methods.

The brand’s ESG pledge include 8 specific themes focused on quality, sustainability, and traceability, that is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). certification.
