Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Arunachal Pradesh has transformed the state’s performance and functioning to enhance various governments’ social sector development objectives. Over the years, many public sector enterprises and private companies have immensely contributed to society through CSR Initiatives. Here, we have tried to highlight some of the projects taken up. Some of them continue to help in the development of society.
ONGC
To develop the rural infrastructure of Arunachal Pradesh, ONGC has taken up intervention in the fields of education, health care, and community development. Funding was extended to construct a B Ed College at Nirjuliand and a girls’ hostel at Naharlagun. Financial assistance was provided for ambulances and X-ray machines to upgrade the healthcare infrastructure of two rural community health centres in the Papum Pare district. Two Ambulances were supplied in two remote blocks at the newly formed Lower Siang Districts. At Upper Subansiri115, Solar Street Lights were installed, and support was extended to construct 10 community centres. At West Siang District, ONGC supported X-ray machines, ultrasound machines, Dental X-ray machines, Ambulances and other equipment to upgrade Aalo Govt. Hospital and Basar CHC, besides funding for the construction of school buildings, toilets, teachers’ quarters, and ten community centres. In Ziro, funding was provided for an ultrasound Machine, X-Ray machine, ambulances for Ziro Govt. Hospital and construction of a school building.
IIE
Project OIL ‘Jeevika’: Launched in 2016-17 and implemented by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati. Project OIL Jeevika is a community cluster-based sustainable livelihood promotion project currently implemented in OIL’s operational villages of Arunachal Pradesh, benefiting 400 households. The project is imparting skill development and upgrade training to the targeted beneficiaries on beekeeping & honey processing, mustard buckwheat and local pulses processing for generating alternate income sources through forming self-sustainable livelihood clusters. Besides training on mustard, buckwheat & local pulse processing, the beneficiaries are also trained on packaging and marketing techniques. It has been found that beneficiaries registered considerable growth in the production of mustard, buckwheat, and local pulses after the training.
Oil India
Oil India Limited signed an MoU with the Namsai DA to upgrade a Community Health Cent re in Chongkham as part of its CSR initiatives. The project will improvehealthcare facilities, including infrastructure, and provide skilled medical personnel, benefiting the local communities. The fund will also be used towards Procurement of medical equipment for the District Hospital, Namsai and Community Health Centre at Chongkham.
