16th December 2024: In a significant step towards ensuring child-friendly hygiene and sanitation facilities for educational institutions in remote areas of Assam, Sunbird Trust, with financial support from NTT DATA, a global leader in digital business and IT services, has enhanced sanitation facilities in schools on Majuli Island, Assam. The collaboration has led to the construction of restroom facilities at Berbhanga Friendship School in Dhemaji District and Ecoland Academy on Majuli Island, ensuring safe and hygienic restroom access for over 180 students and 24 staff members yearly. Before this initiative, students relied on makeshift washroom facilities built from tin sheets and bamboo partitions, which offered minimal privacy and limited hygiene standards.
