Designed under Hyundai Motor India’s ‘Samarth by Hyundai’ social initiative, the event showcased the company’s commitment to harnessing technology for empowerment. Wednesday, 22 May 2024: UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI) in collaboration with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) organized a training workshop on “Corporate Risk Management and Ethical Leadership Through Anti-Corruption Collective Action” on May 22, 2024, at PHD House, Delhi. The thematic area of discussion was mainly around strengthening Transparency, Governance, Ethical Practices, and Integrity in Business to combat corruption through collective action. The workshop witnessed the presence of noted dignitaries from across the sectors including the business community. 22 May 2024: As of 2023, the United Nations estimates the global population at over 8 billion, with India surpassing China to become the most populous country, boasting 1.4267 billion people. Despite this demographic shift, gender disparities persist. Globally, women constitute 49.7% of the population, but only around 50% participate in the labor force compared to 80% of men, with South Asia showing particularly wide gaps. In India, women’s labor force participation is a mere 18%, contributing just 18% to the GDP despite comprising 48% of the population. The World Bank highlights that increasing India’s female labor force participation to 50% could boost GDP growth by 1%. The manufacturing sector, which represents 16–17% of India’s GDP, employs only 12% women,

21st May 2024: The Karnataka Model School Pathways Programme (KMSPP) is gradually revolutionizing the educational landscape in Karnataka through the Model Schools Collaborative under the visionary leadership of Nikhil Kamath. 20th May 2024: The Whiteland Foundation is proud to announce its first major step into the child education sector through the adoption of a school for underprivileged children in collaboration with the BG Foundation. This pioneering project, located in the Bhawani Enclave area of Gurugram, aims to provide non-formal education to children of migrant workers who are not currently enrolled in formal schools. The initiative was officially inaugurated by Ms. Priyanka Sardana and Ms. Karishma Kaul Babbar, Trustees of Whiteland Foundation, along with other members. The project in Bhawani Enclave near Basai, Gurugram, focuses on children between the ages of 6 to 14 years who are not enrolled in formal schooling. May 20, 2024: Greenpeace India unveiled a stunning ice sculpture at the Select City Mall, Saket, that gradually melted under the hot Delhi sun, sending out a strong message on the impact of heat waves across the country. The 8-foot-tall ice sculpture, depicting a woman with a child and a dog, represents some of the most marginalised communities vulnerable to heatwaves and other extreme weather phenomena.
