The 47th anniversary of the HCL Group was marked by the plantation of 47,000+ saplings of different native species trees from across India. HCL Foundation, the CSR arm of HCL Tech, carried out this initiative. This mega plantation drive in India was spread across the cities of Bengaluru, Madurai, Chennai, Coimbatore, Vijayawada, Lucknow, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Hardoi, Thoothkundi, North and South 24 Paraganas and Noida.
The plantation drive at government schools, HCL Tech campuses, forested areas, dedicated lands for mass afforestation saw the inclusion of family members of HCL Tech employees, NGO partners, school students, community volunteers, and women’s groups.
A total of 1.45 million saplings have been planted across the country by HCL Foundation till date with the collaboration of local communities and various stakeholders. The overall CSR objective of HCL Tech is to contribute towards the socio economic and environmental advancement while keeping the eight National Missions of the Government of India’s National Action Plan for climate change and the United Nationals Sustainable Development Goals in mind.
Vice President, Global CSR, HCL Foundation, Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, mentioned that they were committed towards speeding up the process towards climate action, and were very proud of the participation form their employees, students and community members, partners, the women’s groups and all those who supported this drive and made it a grand success.
