Eco Relay initiative by Panasonic to have a sustainable India, and to prioritize ecosystem restoration

29th February 2024: A leading diversified technology company, Panasonic Eco Relay, under the umbrella of Panasonic in India organized a tree plantation project in the Daulatpur area where the Delhi Govt is developing an educational and eco-tourism site for the entire Southwest Delhi region where there are 48 government schools with over 15,000 children. This project will generate livelihood within the local communities in the areas of nursery management, plantation, and aftercare. Panasonic has partnered with Heartfulness Institute for this project with the key objective – to revive endangered species and foster a sustainable ecosystem for future generations. To start with saplings will be planted across an acre of land and maintained to ensure their growth. This project will not only look at enhancing biodiversity but, in the future will help educate students and local villagers, create livelihood opportunities for society and rural communities combat pollution, and offset carbon too.

The project was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Manish Sharma, Chairman, Panasonic Life Solutions India; Mr. Akinori Isomura, MD, Panasonic Energy Company and other key dignitaries – Dr. Kulwant Kaushik, Directorate of Education, Govt. of Delhi, Mr. Rajeev Kumar, Principal, Daulatpur school, Dr. AP Tomar, Zonal Coordinator, Heartfulness Institute, symbolizing company’s commitment to restoration of forest ecosystem.

Sharing her thoughts on the initiative, Pooja Garg Khan, Head of Corporate Communications and CSR at Panasonic Life Solutions India (PLSIND) said, “Environmental stewardship is a critical step towards securing a sustainable future for our next generation. As a responsible corporation, we are committed to enhancing the well-being of our people and society. Panasonic Eco Relay for Sustainable Earth program is a global initiative that encourages business sites around the world to plan local environmental activities and implement them with their employees, along with adults and children from the community. In line with that objective, Panasonic in India aims to develop a high-density mini forest in collaboration with local communities – contributing to the forest ecosystem.”

Through Panasonic’s Eco Relay program, Panasonic strives to inspire and empower individuals and communities to make meaningful contributions towards ensuring a greener and more sustainable world. The Panasonic Group globally is contributing to the decarbonization of society through the Panasonic Green Impact initiative. The objective of the campaign – by 2050, Panasonic Group aims to create an impact that reduces CO2 emissions by more than 300 million tons, or about 1% of the current total global emissions. Panasonic’s Green Impact campaign which speaks to the target audience of Gen Z and millennials today, highlights the company’s dedication to building a more sustainable future and calls on individuals to make a difference by being change agents.
