It is the reason why women deserve respect. Recognising all the contributions and their excellent work in different fields, we celebrate women’s day every year with so much of zeal. So, remembering that on this women’s day also, let’s honour the silent workforce of women that goes unnoticed. Across towns and cities in India, it is not uncommon to see women– cleaning building sites, carrying bricks and shoveling gravel – helping construct the infrastructure necessary for the country’s economic and social development. They help build roads, railway tracks, airports, and offices.

SBI Foundation to support 50 children with speech & hearing disabilities

PRESS RELEASE SBI Foundation and Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (AYJNISHD), Mumbai, brought smiles in the faces of 50 children born with profound hearing loss. SBI Foundation provided the cost of Cochlear Implants and post-operative rehabilitation under their CSR Project SBI-Shravan Shakti to AYJNISHD. During an event organised on May 18, Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairman of State Bank of India presented an amount of Rs 2.65 crore to Dr A.K. Sinha, Director of AYJNISHD, for providing Cochlear implants to 50 children from West Bengal. PRESS RELEASE After a long struggle, the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (prevention, prohibition &redressal) Act,2013 was enacted with an objective to provide secure & conducive work place for Women so as to encourage their greater participation in work thereby achieving goal of social & economic empowerment of women for inclusive growth. This was a constitutional obligation as our Constitution guarantees Equality and prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. In a broader perspective, the underlying object was to make conducive work place and joyful work experience. Thus, it is not merely a statutory mandate but a necessity of present time.
