Decoding Decarbonization – discussed at the 15th ISHRAE Confluence and REFCON India

15 December, 2023- The Ahmedabad Chapter of The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) has organized the 15th ISHRAE Confluence &REFCON that commenced in Ahmedabad recently.

The theme of the confluence is “Decoding Decarbonization’’ and is supported by the United Nations Environment Programme. This event offered the unique opportunity to the participants of staying abreast of cutting-edge technology and trends, through interaction with top experts from across the country and networking with industry professionals.

Pankaj Dharkar, Chairman of the 15th Confluence &REFCON while delivering the keynote address emphasized how important decarbonization initiatives were to tackle the challenge posed by climate change. He emphasized that decarbonization in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry and creating an awareness about energy efficiency were the key topics of the conference. If the farmers’ incomes were to be doubled or tripled then the need for developing an extensive cold chain was needed. Mr. Dharkar is the chair of the decarbonization cell that has been formed by ISHARE. The purpose of this cell is to execute various initiatives across the country that promote decarbonization.

The Chief Guest at the event was Mukesh Patel- Minister of State for Forest and Environment. The Guests of Honour were Director at Gujarat Energy Development Agency – Ajay Prakash, Additional Secretary of Gujarat’s Climate Change department – Bipin Talati and Country Head of the United Nation’s Environment Programme – Atul Bagai.

The first day of the conference saw insightful sessions and panel discussions. More such sessions will follow on the second day too.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Leading national and international societies, including ASHRAE WIC, IPA, IGBC, RATA, IPA, IIID, and IIA have supported the 15th Confluence & REFCON In addition to the United Nations Environment Programme.

ISHRAE is a 42-year-old society and has 52 chapters and sub-chapters. Its membership base across the country and overseas has over 28,000 members.
