Embassy Group receives the prestigious U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership Award

National, 11th June, 2021 – Embassy Group, one of India’s leading real estate development firms, was acknowledged and awarded for its continuous efforts towards sustainability and resilience. Receiving one of the most prestigious and globally recognized accreditations, Embassy Group is one among the very few in South East Asia to grab the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership Award.

This accolade is a testimonial to Embassy Group’s commitment to sustainability and creating eco-friendly projects. The 2021 U.S. Green Building Council India and Southeast Asia Leadership Awards held virtually at USGBC Live event on 10th June, 2021 awarded some of the notable green building projects, companies and individuals in the region over the last year and appreciated the innovation put forth to create healthy, sustainable spaces.

Expressing his delight on receiving this prestigious award, Aditya Virwani, COO, Embassy Group said, “At Embassy our aim is to create an eco-friendly environment that is driven by sustainable innovation. Through our various green initiatives such as Ecogram, EcoShakti, Urban Green, and Green Rider, we have reduced the burden on the environment and are committed to conserve our ecosystems. We strongly believe in a green future and will continue to invest in reducing carbon footprint across all our future projects.”

“Following a difficult year, it is truly inspiring to recognize our green building leaders that have continued their commitment to green building and sustainable communities while adapting to the changing environments around us,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO, USGBC. “The 2021 USGBC Leadership Award awardees have improved our world through the power of green building and it is their contributions and work that have helped our communities stay safe and healthy.”

Since 2017, Embassy has led by example, reusing over 16,20,800 KL of treated water for flushing, gardening and ancillary purposes, efforts that resulted in approximately 45% reduction in raw water consumption. The firm has recycled over 100 tons of wet waste that is generated every month and converted to over 30 tons of compost through vermicomposting and OWCs. Taking a step further into green practices and generating green energy, Embassy Group set up a solar power plant in Bellary that supplies close to 100MW to three of their business parks across Bangalore. 

The real estate conglomerate’s recent investment towards a dry and wet waste collection center in North Bengaluru is benefitting over 18 villages. Setting a new benchmark in the industry, Embassy Group is nurturing employees to foster their zeal to learn sustainable farming. The Urban Green initiative yields up to 6,000 kg of vegetables annually. Embassy works as a community by joining hands with like-minded groups and organizations to co-create an eco-friendly environment.
