FICCI FLO extends partnership with Mitti Cafes and renews commitment to livelihoods for specially-abled

7 May 2024: Extending its memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Mitti Social Initiative Foundation (MSIF), FICCI FLO, the women’s wing of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), reaffirmed its commitment to empowering livelihoods across the country. The goal of this collaborative effort is to support the chain of “Mitti Cafés,” which are known for being inspiringly managed by specially-abled staff. Building upon their successful partnership in key locations like the Supreme Court in Delhi, Terminal 2 in Mumbai, and Amritsar, FICCI FLO and MSIF are well-positioned to expand their impact throughout India.

Increased opportunities for people with special needs and the promotion of inclusivity in society are the goals of this renewed collaboration. Through backing programs such as Mitti Cafés, FICCI FLO hopes to promote empowerment and give people with special skills a chance to succeed in the workforce.

The organization’s commitment to promoting inclusive growth was highlighted by FICCI FLO’s National President, Joyshree Das Verma. She remarked, “Empowering individuals with special needs is not just a social responsibility; it is necessary for a truly inclusive society. Through our partnership with the Mitti Social Initiative Foundation, FICCI FLO is proud to support initiatives that create meaningful livelihoods and promote diversity in the workforce. Together, we are developing the narrative of inclusivity and pushing the boundaries of possibility.”

Alina Alam, Founder and CEO of Mitti Café, expressed her enthusiasm for the continued partnership, stating, “At Mitti Café, we believe in the power of inclusion and the potential of every individual. Our collaboration with FICCI FLO has been instrumental in driving positive change and opening doors of opportunity for those often marginalized in society. Together, we are not just serving meals but also serving a greater purpose of empowerment.”

The success stories that come out of Mitti Cafés are evidence of the revolutionary potential of inclusive employment. These cafés have turned into rays of hope for people with special abilities by offering a nurturing atmosphere and chances for skill development, demonstrating that anyone can realize their full potential given the correct encouragement and tools.
