FUJIFILM India’s CSR drive, empowers communities -amplifies TB Detection and Prevention Program

30 June, 2023: In a bid to support the Government of India’s ambitious mission of eradicating TB (Tuberculosis) by the year 2025, FUJIFILM India launched the Never Stop Screening to Reduce Diagnostic Delays campaign in 2021. The First phase of this project covered the Northern belt and included over 1 million individuals. The screening results revealed 12,000 people with TB symptoms. FUJIFILM India, conducted door-door- TB awareness and screening jointly with its’ partners. This was done via the mobile TB Detection machine and focused on educating the populations in the targeted regions that were hard to reach, on TB symptom recognition and the importance of early detection.

Continuing this endeavour, FUJIFILM India, in the second phase of this project is focusing on marginalized communities residing in the eastern, wester, and southern regions of India. The company has made significant investments coupled with its determination to combat tuberculosis. It has conducted TB detection campaigns in 3 states in India, namely Assam, Gujrat, and Kerala. The company has also donated TB Detection machines to boost Microbiology Sputum Testing.

As a strong support to the TB eradication campaign, through its’ CSR initiative the company has offered sample and supply assistance for sputum testing in private labs, in order to facilitate timely and efficient testing. A total of 6000 nutrition support kits for TB-positive patients have been provided.

FUJIFILM India has equipped the Goodricke tea estate in Assam with a cutting-edge Micro-Biology based TB Detection machine, in keeping with its understanding of the need for advanced diagnostics.

Mr. Koji Wada, Managing Director, FUJIFILM India, stated that the TB screening campaign was his brainchild to reach difficult terrains and the bottom of the pyramid.

The Fujifilm Handheld X-ray Device he said was a game changer since it had reached the rough and remote terrains of Kerala, Gujarat and Assam. He mentioned that their CSR initiative had been inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s Ni-kshay campaign, where they have committed to provide nutrition support for 6 months to nearly 1000 TB patients who are diagnosed with TB through their campaign. The nutritional intake would be improved so that they could recover faster.  Their testing and equipment support would also help expedite the TB screening campaign.

Vertical Head, Corporate Communications and CSR Mr. Abhi Shekhar Singh mentioned that the approach of the Fujifilm Group to CSR was to contribute to the sustainable development of society by practicing their corporate philosophy sincerely through fair business activities.  Their company’s vision as a healthcare leader he said, was to support a healthy nation by executing various CSR activities.
