4th March 2024: The Government of India’s implementing partner for the mid-may meal project, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, hosted Music for Meals, which is an annual mega event, featuring Vijay Prakash, renowned playback singer of ‘Singara Siriye’ (Kantara) fame, and Pravin Godkhindi, acclaimed Indian Classical Hindustani Flute Player. The event was aimed to blend the harmony of music with the mission of feeding millions of children in need.

The concert started with Sri Pravin Godkhindi’s harmonious jugalbandi with his son, Sri Shadaj Godkhindi, wherein they performed Pahadi raga. This was followed by an electrifying duet by Sri Vijay Prakash and Sri Pravin Godkhindi, featuring popular numbers such as Kaadhal Rojave, Singara Siriye, and Jai Ho!

The entry to the event was uniquely designed, with individuals getting a complimentary pass by donating to 3 children (Rs. 4500). The proceeds will serve mid-day meals to socioeconomically challenged children in government and government-aided schools across India. However, our work is far from done. There are still millions of children in need of our support, who deserve a chance at a better future. In this context, ‘Music for Meals’ is a crucial event, as it not only raises awareness about the impact of nutrition on quality education but also rallies support from compassionate individuals like yourselves, who are committed to joining us in making a difference.”
