Indian Bank Celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities: Supports Women with Disabilities through CSR Sewing Machine Initiative

03 rd December 2025: On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Indian Bank reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity and empowerment through a significant CSR initiative. Smt. Mini T. M., Executive Director, Indian Bank, handed over sewing machines to differently abled members of the Society for Rights of All Women with Disabilities (SFRAWD) at a programme held in Bank’s Corporate Office in Chennai. The event was graced by the presence of top management and senior officials of the Bank.

The initiative aligns with Indian Bank’s CSR focus area of “Gender Equality and Women Empowerment,” aimed at fostering self-reliance and sustainable livelihood opportunities for women with disabilities.

SFRAWD, an all-women association for the disabled, has been working tirelessly to uplift its members through education, skill development, entrepreneurship and employment support. The society is affiliated with the Federation of Tamil Nadu Differently Abled Associations (FTNDAA) and the Women’s Indian Association (WIA). It currently runs a dedicated training centre at Alwarpet, Chennai, imparting vocational skills to physically challenged women as well as mothers of differently abled children.

Indian Bank’s support will enable SFRAWD trainees to enhance their skills and pursue income-generating activities, contributing to improved socio-economic independence.
