On the occasion of World Environment Day, Vilcart launches green initiatives to recycle and save with suryakash sunflower oil

5th June 2024:  In celebration of World Environment Day 2024, Vilcart is proud to announce a new eco-friendly initiative aimed at promoting sustainability in rural communities. Suryakash, Vilcart’s premium sunflower oil, is now available in rural Kirana stores with a unique plastic recycling program that rewards customers for contributing to a cleaner, greener environment.

Starting immediately, customers who purchase Suryakash sunflower oil can participate in this initiative by dropping their used oil packets into designated drop boxes or bins located in front of participating rural Kirana stores. In return, they will receive a discount of Rs.3 on their next purchase of Suryakash sunflower oil. This simple yet impactful action encourages recycling and helps reduce waste in local communities.

“We are thrilled to launch this initiative on World Environment Day,” said Mr. Prasanna Kumar C (CPK), Rural CEO. “Our goal is to foster a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility among our customers. By offering a tangible reward, we hope to encourage more people to recycle and think about the impact of their choices on the environment.”

Every week, a dedicated team from Vilcart will collect the deposited used oil packets from the rural kirana stores and transport them to a recycling center. This ensures that the materials are processed and reused in an environmentally friendly manner, reducing the burden on landfills and contributing to a circular economy.

Vilcart’s initiative aligns perfectly with this year’s World Environment Day theme, “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.” By taking proactive steps towards sustainability, Vilcart is helping to halt desertification, restore our lands, and build drought resilience in rural areas. “We believe that every small step counts when it comes to protecting our environment,” Mr. Prasanna Kumar C (CPK), Rural CEO added “By integrating this plastic recycling program into our product distribution, we are making it easier for our customers to make a positive impact. Together, we can create a cleaner, greener future for our communities.”
