Rockwell Automation opens Tinkering Lab for female students in Pune

22 August 2024: Rockwell Automation, Inc. (NYSE: ROK), the world’s largest industrial automation and digital transformation company, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art STEM Tinkering Lab, known as Robo Shiksha Kendra, at Hujurpaga Girls School in Pune. This initiative is an important step towards strengthening Rockwell Automation’s ongoing commitment to support STEM education amongst girls.

Apart from providing infrastructure, Rockwell Automation’s comprehensive program aims at equipping teachers and students with the necessary skills and knowledge. This holistic approach ensures that the STEM Tinkering Lab’s impact goes far beyond its physical presence, nurturing a generation of innovators and problem solvers. To date, Rockwell Automation has sponsored and promoted a total of 12 Tinkering Labs across India.

Speaking about the initiative, Dilip Sawhney, managing director, of Rockwell Automation India said, “Promoting STEM is a top CSR priority for Rockwell Automation India. This initiative not only marks a new chapter for the school in Pune and its beneficiaries but also strengthens our role as a responsible citizen of society. Our commitment to promoting STEM among girls paves the way for these students to fully utilize their potential in fields that are traditionally under-represented by women.”

“Our collaboration with Rockwell Automation to launch the Robo Shiksha Kendra at Hujurpaga Girls School marks a significant step in making STEM education accessible to girls. By fostering hands-on learning and providing the right resources, we aim to inspire young women to pursue STEM careers and become future leaders,” said Sudhanshu Sharma- founder director, of India STEM Foundation.

The inauguration event, led by dedicated CSR volunteers and members from the RASWE India ERG team, including Shikha Maheshwari, Manisha Revankar, Kaveri Waghe, and Yaseer Jahagirdar, with the support of India Stem Foundation, began with a warm Maharashtrian- style welcome. The enthusiasm and energy displayed by the school students, staff, and management were palpable throughout the ceremony, which featured captivating performances by the students.
