3 July, 2023: RPG Group has diverse business interests in various segments including – Tyres, Pharma, Infrastructure, IT and Specialty, including emerging innovation-led technology businesses. The Group has recently taken another step in fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity, and creating safe and welcoming work environment across its companies.

Two transformative initiatives that include the introduction of a ground breaking LGBTQIA + and Partners Benefits Policy and R – Shield a 24×7 employee helpline.

The Chairman of RPG Group – Harsh Goenka, said that their decision of embracing diversity stems from responsibility and is not just a choice. The celebration of #PrideMonth comes with the realisation that true progress comes from respecting and uplifting the journey of every individual. He further mentioned that we must jointly create a world where love, acceptance and equality coexist.

The LGBTQIA+ Inclusion and partner benefits redefines the concept of equality and offers comprehensive benefits to employees and their partners. These benefits are inclusive and offered irrespective of the employees sexual orientation or marital status. This progressive policy regardless of sexual orientation of the employee accords the benefits to “spouse” “spouse equivalent. ’’ Be it the same sex partners or heterosexual partners, insurance coverage, social security, leaves, retirement benefits as per the statutory laws are same for all. Under this policy, legally adopted children of partners are recognized as “dependents” and the benefits are extended to the entire family as one unit. The commitment to LGBTQIA + inclusion of the RPG Group goes beyond policies. In the year 2022 in its offices in CEAT and KEC, the Group began hiring transgender individuals across its offices and factories. This was a major step towards creating an equal employment opportunity and diverse workforce.

President, Group HR, S ‘Venky’ Venkatesh, said that they were proud to be leading the way towards the creation of a safe, inclusive and happy work environment for their employees. He went on to add that their LGBTQIA + and Partner Benefits Policy reflect their belief in equality and recognized the importance of extending benefits to all partners irrespective of their sexual orientation. Because of the company’s belief in the equal importance of mental health, along with physical health, they have tied up with Juno – a mental health clinic that provides free services to the employees.

The R- Shield dedicated helpline allows the employees to raise their voice against any form of harassment, for both males and females. It also covers bullying, body shaming, ageism, racism, ethnicity, and various disabilities, and endeavours to create a happier and more inclusive environment for all the RPG Group members.  This includes both the permanent and the contractual force and is directed towards employee happiness, wellness and safety. Within its proprietary framework that determines the Happiness Quotient of its employees, the happiness philosophy is tangible and relevant initiatives, policies and practices can be designed for the employees.
