TELUS Digital India Revitalizes Noida School, Enhancing the Learning Environment for 1,300 Students

14th November 2024: Upholding its philosophy of ‘We Give Where We Live,’ TELUS Digital India, a leader in AI-powered customer experience and business process solutions, recently conducted its annual TELUS Days of Giving (TDOG) school refurbishment volunteer activity. Benefitting more than 1,300 students and 19 teachers, over 600 team member volunteers revamped the Nehru Smarak Inter College to improve the school’s learning environment and infrastructure.

TELUS Digital India team members and leaders came together to repaint classrooms, hallways, and benches and installed a brand-new water cooler. The team also converted a room into a dedicated medical space, and renovated the male washroom facilities, ensuring health, hygiene, and safety for the students.

Beyond the renovations, the volunteers engaged directly with students through interactive career workshops and mentoring sessions, bridging the gap between education and real-world opportunities. For the TELUS Digital India team, this day of volunteering strengthened more than just school infrastructure. It solidified team bonds, developed leadership skills, and most importantly, demonstrated the powerful effect that corporate responsibilities can have on local communities.

Iftikar Ahmed, Senior Director for Operations at TELUS Digital India, shared, “Education is the cornerstone of opportunity for our youth. When we enhance a learning environment, we’re not just painting walls or installing facilities, we are investing in dreams, potential, and the future of our community. This activity reinforced our company’s overarching goal of giving back to the communities here in Noida, where we came together to contribute towards providing a comfortable learning environment for future generations.”

When asked about what inspired the school refurbishment activity, Radhika Nijhawan, Vice President for Operations at TELUS Digital India said, “Every child deserves a space that inspires learning. By improving the physical learning environment and providing mentorship, we’re sending a powerful message to these students that their future matters, and we’re invested in their success.”

This initiative is part of TELUS Digital India’s broader commitment to social impact. The company actively conducts volunteer activities throughout the year, in addition to the year-long partnership and fund grants they extend to local charities and NGOs.

Combined with the volunteering efforts of the global TELUS Digital team, and those of their parent company, TELUS, the commitment to giving is staggering. Since 2000, the combined organizations have contributed $1.7 billion and 2.2 million days of volunteer service to charitable organizations worldwide.
