STEM Education for underprivileged students promoted by Rockwell Automation

15th September2023:The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2023, being organized by the ISF – India Stem Foundation will now see Rockwell Automation Inc. sponsoring the participation of 12 schools across the major cities in India. This initiative of

Rockwell Automation. Inc.  a leading name in industrial automation and digital transformation is part of its larger corporate responsibility of equipping the underprivileged children for the future. The company promotes education in science, technology, mathematics (STEM) and engineering for the students who come from underprivileged backgrounds.

Founding member and senior scientist of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune Arvind Natu, was the Guest of Honor at the WRO event. During the event he interacted with the participants and gave them valuable insights into his contribution through IISER towards STEM activities.

Managing director, Rockwell Automation India Dilip Sawhney, while commenting on the initiative said that Rockwell’s commitments was towards creating a positive impact through all their activities and also supporting communities. STEM education he said was very significant in shaping the future of India and preparing the students to take on future challenges. He expressed his happiness at the collaboration with India STEM Foundation that was helping in strengthening the initiative. He expressed his optimism for future collaborations in line with their shared vision of a smarter and equitable India.

The WRO event witnessed the participation of 38 teams from between 30 and 35 schools. Two teams sponsored by Rockwell Automation, won their junior and senior categories in the regional rounds. These teams will now participate in the National Championship that will be held in the month of September 2023.

Students from Sheth Chunilal Damodardas Barfivala High School Andheri – Mumbai, Dnyanganga English medium school – Pune, Air force School, Viman Nagar – Pune, Lion M. P. Bhuta Sion Sarvajanik School – Mumbai, Swami Vivekananda Vidhya Kendra – Bengaluru, Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya – Delhi, DTEA School – Delhi, Kendriya Vidyalaya Ballygunge – Kolkata and Kendriya Vidyalaya Fort William – Kolkata, constituted the participants.

This year marked the 40th year of Rockwell Automation’s continuous operation in India.
