Philips Lighting powers up Barefoot College in Rajasthan

PRESS RELEASE The college’s Tilonia campus now has access to reliable off-grid energy with a 116 KW solar system provided by Philips Foundation Philips Lighting (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, today announced that it has powered the Tilonia campus of Barefoot College in Rajasthan with a 116KW solar system, thereby enabling the college to have access to reliable offgrid energy. A grant from Philips Foundation replaced a thirty-year-old, aged-out solar equipment, more than tripling the kilowattage in parts of the historic campus that empowers rural women to earn their livelihoods. Nestlé India expands its clean drinking water facilities in rural Rajasthan

PRESS RELEASE Reaffirming its commitment to providing clean drinking water, Nestlé India in association with the Government of Rajasthan inaugurated clean drinking water facilities in Badnagar. A total of 12 water purification units have been installed in Manjri Kala, Chandoli, Bhaisroardgarh, Umand, Abdulpur, Angai, Langra, Panchodi, Panota, Sirohi, Badnagar and Khadin since 2017, as a part of Nestlé India’s clean drinking water project in the primary health centers of rural Rajasthan. The projects are being implemented by Nestlé India’s NGO partner Piramal Sarvajal, who will be constructing single phase bore-wells and water tanks with water filtration and delivery mechanism. KOSHISH – ON DECRIMINALISING POVERTY AND DESTITUTION

INITIATIVE Koshish was initiated in August 2006 as a response to this systemic injustice and criminalization of poverty that was happening under the Beggary Prevention Law. It wasn’t a planned strategy but an emotional response to extreme violation that one student witnessed in a custodial institution closer to the Tata Institute of Social Sciences campus. Koshish is committed to the cause of destitute and urban poor. It’s main focus is to have thee Beggary Prevention Legislations repealed and replace tit with policies and support systems for the poor and abandoned.
