RAHI Launches Women-Led Projects As Part Of Its SAMBAL Initiative

News Update/ Press Release New Delhi, 10th March , 2021 – The theme for International Women’s Day 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge. In line with the theme, Rise Against Hunger India chose to challenge preconceived notions associated with farming and the role of women farmers in India. On this occasion, RAHI has launched projects aimed at eradication of malnutrition through farm-based micro-projects in hunger hotspots of India, as part of its SAMBAL initiative launched on World Food Day 2020. The projects shall work exclusively with women farmers to improve food security and food diversity in chosen areas of Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabrangpur districts of Odisha. News Update/ Press Release New Delhi, 7th March, 2021: On Women’s Day, NTPC Ltd, India’s largest integrated power company announces plans for recruiting only women executives as a special recruitment drive across its areas of operations. This will further strengthen women power in India’s largest power generation company. Such recruitment drive will further enhance gender diversity as parameter for NTPC.  NTPC has been working at improving its gender ratio wherever possible. The all women CEAT Shoppe will be CEAT’s endeavour to empower women especially in the male dominated tyre industry. The Shoppes are owned, managed and run by team of women which will give them equal opportunity to grow and make a mark in tyre Industry. SBI General’s CSR Initiative Ensures Hygiene Requirements for Thousands of Girl Students

Mumbai, 15th February 2021: SBI General Insurance, one of the leading General Insurance companies in India, has enabled building 15 sanitation facilities for girl students in Wada and Chimur talukas in Palghar district of Maharashtra, thereby impacting lives of thousands of girl students. Under the CSR project, SBI General has funded the construction of 15‘safe space’ restrooms for girls around schools in rural districts of Maharashtra. These restrooms along with the 5 built last year will be used by over 10,000 girls in the coming five years. Diageo India Community Programme Making a Difference in the lives of Odisha’s Women

PRESS RELEASE Diageo India, a leading beverage alcohol company, as part of its community project, has helped set up mushroom production units at Allipur and Bergispentha villages in Odisha. The units would be run by women, empowering them to become self-reliant and earn a livelihood. The mushroom production units were inaugurated in the presence of Diageo Gopalpur plant head K. Zero Tolerance Against Female Genital Mutilation Is Need Of Hour Writes Neeti Jha About 120 to 140 million women have been subject to FGM and 3 million girls are at risk each year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). FGM relates to all procedures that involve partial or total removal of the external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. This practice is an abuse of human rights and causes serious health complications, including fatal bleeding. The UN first officially commemorated the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation on February 6, 2003. Pratham Books’ StoryWeaver Creates Hyperlocal Libraries for Children in Multilingual Indian Languages on International Mother Language Day

PRESS RELEASE Story Weaver, an initiative of Pratham Books, a not-for-profit publisher, announced the creation of hyperlocal libraries for children to promote and preserve children’s literature in Konkani, Bhoti and Haryanvi, in observance of International Mother Language Day. World over, around half of the seven thousand spoken languages are feared to die by the end of the present century. In India alone, 197 languages are classified as vulnerable or endangered. Cognizant of the threat of extinction looming large on many leading languages, International Mother Language Day (IMLD) is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity, and promote multilingualism.
