Wednesday, 22 May 2024: UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI) in collaboration with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) organized a training workshop on “Corporate Risk Management and Ethical Leadership Through Anti-Corruption Collective Action” on May 22, 2024, at PHD House, Delhi. The thematic area of discussion was mainly around strengthening Transparency, Governance, Ethical Practices, and Integrity in Business to combat corruption through collective action. 22 May 2024: As of 2023, the United Nations estimates the global population at over 8 billion, with India surpassing China to become the most populous country, boasting 1.4267 billion people. Despite this demographic shift, gender disparities persist. Globally, women constitute 49.7% of the population, but only around 50% participate in the labor force compared to 80% of men, with South Asia showing particularly wide gaps. 1st May 2024: – Nai Subah Foundation, is a pioneering youth-led social startup, that successfully concluded its second annual physical art exhibition, ‘Advaita: Expressions of Diversity’, which is aimed at showcasing the creativity and unique perspectives of neurodiverse artists through art. The ArtSastra Gallery in New Delhi hosted a three-day exhibition showcasing around 120 extraordinary artworks by 26 artists of the age group of 10 to 45. 30th April 2024: The UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI) hosted the 7th Gender Equality Summit in New Delhi. The goal of the summit, themed “Inclusive Horizons: Integrating Gender Equality across SDGs,” was to coordinate efforts towards achieving gender equality with more general development goals. It offered a forum for stakeholders from different industries to work together to address gender inequality and advance SDG 5 and its related objectives. Around 45 leaders from government, business, academia, research, policymakers, UN agencies, and civil society organizations (CSOs), and corporations were among the 350 participants in the event. April 29, 2024: Haleon India, (erstwhile GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare), under its CSR initiative, in collaboration with Green Yatra, a leading environmental NGO, inaugurated the Otrivin Miyawaki Urban Forest Project in Dwarka, Delhi. 26 April 2024: The Earth Saviours Foundation and Innova Solutions, a global provider of digital transformation solutions, joined forces today to celebrate the installation of a 10KVA solar panel system donated by the Innova Foundation, which will supply electricity to the elderly residents of the NGO. The Earth Saviours Foundation was founded by the late Shri Ravi Kalra with the goals of protecting the environment, helping the poor, and offering a sanctuary to animals that have been mistreated. Around 1,300 people live permanently in the NGO’s shelter homes in Bandhwari Village and Mandawar Village, Distt. 25 April 2024: To promote environmental sustainability, the OneEarth Foundation is giving study tables and benches to a poor school in a slum close to Old Goa. These items are made from separated low-value plastic waste that was gathered during the 30-day Drive Against Plastic Pollution (DAPP) campaign.  In addition to raising awareness among over 1300 people and students about the issue of plastic pollution and encouraging sustainable practices, the campaign also collected 1.4 tonnes of waste, held 59 workshops and clean-up drives, and paddled 120 km along the Goa coastline.  This initiative, beyond being a symbolic gesture, embodies OneEarth Foundation’s core principles rooted in circular economy practices. Through environmentally responsible waste management, it aspires to close the loop and make society more ecologically aware.
