World Water Day celebrates water and inspires action to tackle the global water crisis. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030. This year’s theme: “Water and Gender” explores how gender equality and safe water access are interlinked, and how empowering women and girls in water management can benefit everyone in society.
"Water is the first currency of civilisation. It underpins health, dignity, industry, and ecological balance, sitting at the heart of sustainable development. On World Water Day, the message is clear: the future will favour societies that treat water not as an expendable utility, but as a strategic national asset. At WAE, our commitment to conservation, treatment, reuse, and intelligent water management is guided by the belief that true progress must be sustainable and inclusive. The path ahead demands a deeper alliance between institutions, industry, and communities — combining technological innovation with collective responsibility. Societies that lead tomorrow are those that honour water today."
Mr. A Vikram Joshe
Managing Director, WAE
“Water is a critical yet increasingly vulnerable resource, with climate change, rapid urbanisation, and rising demand intensifying global water stress. As businesses grow, so does the responsibility to manage water sustainably. At Embassy, water stewardship is central to our initiatives. Across 14 Embassy REIT business parks, ~78–80% of water was recycled until Q3 FY26 through advanced treatment, low-flow fixtures, and sensor-based systems. Beyond campuses, our EcoGram initiative has, since 2016, rejuvenated water bodies, improved groundwater levels, and implemented rainwater harvesting in Bettahalasuru—driving community-led, long-term water resilience.”
Ms. Shaina Ganapathy
Head of Community Outreach Initiatives, Embassy Group
“SEVA - Shakti Foundation Charitable Trust at Shakti Pumps reflects our belief in creating impact beyond business. Through solar pump installations, we bring sustainable water access to underserved regions, while our healthcare camps and education initiatives strengthen human potential. We are committed to advancing renewable energy, conserving water, and building community infrastructure that supports long-term development. Each project is designed to create self-reliant ecosystems and improve everyday lives. Our CSR journey is about enabling opportunity, fostering resilience, and ensuring that growth is inclusive, responsible, and aligned with the needs of communities we proudly serve."
Ms. Indira Patidar
Chairperson, SEVA-Shakti Foundation Charitable Trust
“Building a sustainable society begins by strengthening communities and healing natural ecosystems. At Hyundai Motor India, our CSR initiatives such as Project H₂OPE and IONIQ Forest are creating visible and lasting impact. From nurturing an urban forest of one million trees in Pune to restoring 12.6 acres of land in Kancheepuram, our focus remains on nature led solutions. By rejuvenating ponds, enabling rainwater harvesting and promoting responsible land use, we are reinforcing groundwater recharge and long-term water resilience. True water security is achieved when institutions and communities unite to protect shared resources for the future.”
Mr. Puneet Anand
AVP & Vertical Head - Corporate Affairs, Corporate Communication & Social, Hyundai Motor India
"Sustainability and economic resilience. As industries evolve, the challenge is not just conservation, but using water far more efficiently across entire value chains. At Canopy, we focus on accelerating the shift to Next Generation, circular materials that reduce pressure on forests and significantly lower water intensity. By moving away from extractive systems toward those that utilise agricultural and textile waste, we can unlock more sustainable and inclusive growth pathways. Real progress will come from rethinking how resources flow through our systems. When water is used intelligently, it strengthens ecosystems, supports livelihoods, and builds long-term resilience for both industries and economies."
Ms. Shruti Singh
Director of India Hub, Canopy Planet Society
"Water is the lifeblood of our planet, yet its scarcity is a reality we can no longer ignore. At Colgate-Palmolive, we recognize that safeguarding this vital resource is not just a corporate mandate, but a profound moral imperative. Through our ongoing water stewardship programs, we are committed to replenishing water and revitalizing local ecosystems. However, true sustainability cannot be achieved in silos. It demands a powerful synergy between institutions, local communities, and grassroots partners. By pooling our knowledge, resources, and shared resolve, we can transform vulnerability into resilience, ensuring equitable and lasting water security."
Ms. Shilpashree Muniswamappa
