1 Tree per home commitment from Provident Housing kicks off as a World Environment Month initiative

Provident Housing Limited, a large-scale community developer, and a 100% subsidiary of Puravankara Limited, initiated its 1 tree per home commitment at its’ upcoming project in Bagalur, Bengaluru. This included a mass plantation drive covering 10 % trees at the site. The company has planned such drives across 4 more of its’ projects, and this campaign will coincide with the World Environment Day, June 5th 2023 today.

Provident Housing will give a tree to each community resident family within its’ campus under the 1 tree per home initiative. This campaign is focussed around Provident’s commitment to sustainable practices and environmental conservation. In continuation of this campaign, trees will be planted at the various project sites, covering 4 in Bengaluru and the 5th in Kochi.

Krish Anand, a 13-year-old ornithology expert participated in the campaign and delivered a talk, that began on Sunday at Baglur, an upcoming project site of Provident. Tree planting events for one month on June11th, 18th,25th and on July 2nd will be organised by Provident Housing. The project sites at which these events will be held, comprise nearly 5,000 units. In keeping with its commitment to a green and sustainable future for its customers, the company has earmarked space and will be planting 10% of the committed trees during this month.

Provident Housing aligning with the local eco system is planting local tree species at its project sites. These include Guava, Neem, Wood Apple, Gulmohar, Mango, Jackfruit and others. By the time the customers move in, these trees will grow into robust and resilient entities. This careful selection, will also facilitate an eco-system that will attract bees, birds and butterflies.
Hasiru Dala (Green Force) a social impact organization, also participated in this campaign. The representatives of this organization will provide solutions to the community members on the disposal of plastic waste sustainably, by being personally present at Provident project sites.

Mr. Mallanna Sasalu, the COO of Provident Housing, while affirming the company’s commitment to environment stewardship, said that they believed in the saying “No Tree, no life.” He further added that their 1 tree per home campaign was directed toward sustainable development and a healthy future for all their customers. He informed that the month long campaign had started and he reiterated how a green cover enhances the quality of living, acts as a sound absorber, minimizes noise and also prevents the creation of heat islands.
