PETRONET LNG LIMITED

Petronet LNG Limited has undertaken various CSR efforts to combat the COVID-19 Pandemic. It contributed Rs 100 crores to the PM Cares Fund to support the nation against the unprecedented crisis due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) is one of the fastest growing world-class companies in the Indian energy sector. It has set up the country’s first LNG receiving and regasification terminal at Dahej, Gujarat, and another terminal at Kochi, Kerala. Formed as a Joint Venture by the Government of India to import LNG and set up LNG terminals in the country, it involves India’s leading oil and natural gas industry players. Its promoters are GAIL (India) Limited, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). PLL formed Petronet LNG Foundation (PLF), an organization committed to sustainable social growth and dedicated to the cause of humanity. The Foundation is focused upon improving quality of lives and promote inclusive growth by way of positioning itself as a parenting force of various Social Change Agents operating at the ground level through CSR interventions.

CSR activities are undertaken focusing on enhancing quality of life of the community in the vicinity of business locations as well as across the nation by way of strengthening and contributing in the sectors o f C o m m u n i t y H e a l t h c a r e , Contribution to the War Widows, Water and Sanitation, Education & Skill Development, Infrastructure & Community Asset Generation, S w a c h h B h a r a t A b h i y a a n , Empowerment of Women, Sports, Art & Culture. As a responsible corporate citizen, PLL undertakes Socio-Economic Development Projects to meet priority needs of the marginalised and underserved communities with the aim to make them self-reliant. It started its CSR journey from the western part of India and continued its journey to Southern and other parts of India.

Combatting Covid 19

PLL undertook various CSR efforts to combat the COVID 19 Pandemic. It contributed Rs 100 crores to the PM Cares Fund on 30th March, 2020 to support the nation against the unprecedented crisis due to the outbreak. The Company stood with the nation and it’s health workers by contributimg Rs 1.53 Crores to various health institutions for procuring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at AIIIMS New Delhi and health institutes of Bharuch (Gujarat) and Kochi (Kerala). It has taken up initiatives for providing food/ration kits and conducted sanitation drives with local administrative bodies, Gram Panchayats, District Administrations, local NGOs, etc. for the underprivileged, daily wagers and migrant workers in Delhi, Bharuch (Gujarat) & Kochi (Kerala) to combat COVID-19 pandemic during the nationwide lockdown.

Healthcare

 Petronet LNG Foundation runs 3 Mobile Medical Units (Vans) with Wockhardt Foundation at Delhi & Bharuch. The Mobile Vans cater to the needs of primary healthcare of poor & needy free of cost at their doorstep. The Vans operate in the route map as per the ADCR formula (Awareness, Diagnosis, Cure & Referral). Components of each Van include: Diagnostic test facilities, Free Medicines, Patient Information System, Doctor (MBBS), Pharmacist, Lab Technician & a Social Protection Officer. The Vans are GPS enabled.

Eradicating Hunger

With reference to the idea of feeding hungry in the city of Kochi the project ‘Numma Oonu’ meaning ‘Our Food’, was launched. “Numma Onnu” has been launched in collaboration with Petronet LNG Foundation & Ernakulam District Administration as well as Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHRA). The project strives to keep alive the dream of a hunger free Kochi by providing free meals for the hungry without sacrificing his/her dignity. It was the good will and humaneness of all and dream of making Kochi the city of benevolence where no one goes to bed on an empty stomach. A total of more than 1,50,000 meals have been served to the people through “Numma Onnu”.

Education & Skill Development

PLL’s education/skill development initiatives are targeted for a maximum outreach by providing an allround coverage across the area of operation and taking up initiatives in several parts of the country directly and in collaboration with several organizations.Under Skill development collaboration with Central Institute for Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Skill development programmes for enhancing the employability of about 400 local undertaken till date in Gujarat, Kerala.

Petronet Kashmir Super 30

Under education one of the major programmes run by PLF is Petronet Kashmir Super 30. This programme helps the underprivileged students of Kashmir to overcome various social and other disadvantages by enabling them to compete in the engineering entrance examination through quality coaching and guidance for securing admission in premier engineering institutions like IITs and NITs by providing high quality coaching and guidance. Despite all challenges, the programme so far has achieved great success and touched around 142 students and their families from about ten districts of Kashmir and Kargil – Leh. The programme is being implemented in association with the Indian Armyand Centre For Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL). The success ratio is around 70%. In the backdrop of the situation in Kashmir, the result that the programme has delivered is amazing. PLL has also received the Greentech & CSR Times award 2020 for this project. The programme has become a part of Harvard Business Case Study.

Welfare of the Divyangs

For empowering Divyangs, PLF in association with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) supports them with Aid and Assistive devices such as motorized tricycles, tricycles, Smart phones, smart canes, BTE hearing aids, etc. through camps those have been organized in Delhi/ NCR, Bharuch (Gujarat) and Kochi (Kerala) benefitting about 1200 persons.

Welfare of the War Widows

For the welfare of the War Widows towards construction of 72 widow quarters for BSF & CRPF, the company through its CSR Arm has taken up multi-year CSR Project across several locations in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab & Uttar Pradesh.
