Infosys Foundation pledges support to Reach to Teach Foundation

14th March 2024: The philanthropic arm of Infosys, the Infosys Foundation, has extended its support to the Reach to Teach Foundation through a generous single-year grant tottaling nearly a crore. This grant will be instrumental in supporting the efforts of the Reach to Teach Foundation in collaboration with the Education Department of the Government of Meghalaya.

Reach to Teach Foundation operates as a Section 8 Company and currently concentrates its efforts in the Northeastern States of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. Through strategic partnerships with the Education Departments of respective State Governments, the foundation operates in consultation with all relevant stakeholders. Central to its mission is recognising the profound impact educators have in shaping the educational landscape, particularly in shaping children’s learning experiences. As such, the Reach to Teach Foundation places a paramount emphasis on empowering teachers to drive positive change within their educational ecosystems.

The foundation’s initiatives span across the North East, targeting students from Classes 1 to 12. One of its flagship endeavors, the Comprehensive School Transformation Programme (CSTP), adopts an innovative approach. This program not only evaluates learning deficits across all grades but also endeavours to develop tailored teaching and learning materials that are closely aligned with predefined learning outcomes. The ultimate aim is to ensure that students achieve grade-appropriate learning outcomes, thereby mitigating learning disparities.

Expressing profound gratitude for the support extended by the Infosys Foundation, Ratna Viswanathan, Chair of the Board of Reach to Teach Foundation, articulated, “This marks the genesis of a mutually enriching partnership, with a shared vision of fostering systemic transformations and fortifying the educational landscape of the State. Our collective endeavour is to afford children in Meghalaya equitable opportunities, commensurate with those enjoyed by their counterparts in other regions, thereby fostering equal life prospects. We are truly honored by the prospect of collaborating to effect positive societal change.”

This collaboration between the Infosys Foundation and Reach to Teach Foundation represents a convergence of shared values and aspirations. It underscores a commitment to catalyzing enduring change within the educational realm, ultimately fostering a more equitable and inclusive society.
