Akums Hosts Successful Blood Donation Drives Across Uttarakhand Facilities

11th June 2024: Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited, known for its innovative approach to healthcare and pharmaceutical manufacturing, proudly concluded its series of Blood Donation Drives organized from June 5th to June 7th, 2024, across its widespread facilities in Uttarakhand. The initiative garnered extensive employee engagement, culminating in a generous donation of 1381 units of blood in one collective effort.

Aligned with its commitment to community welfare and healthcare enhancement, Akums orchestrated these blood donation drives to raise awareness and contribute to the ongoing demand for blood supply in hospitals and blood banks. The event served as a beacon of hope for those in need of blood transfusions, with employees wholeheartedly stepping forward to donate.

Blood donation holds significant importance in human life. Every year, many struggle for their lives due to blood shortages, especially those with rare blood types. Akums holds a major annual blood donation camp in Uttarakhand to raise awareness and meet the urgent need for blood in local blood banks and hospitals.

Emphasizing the significance of blood donation, Shri Sandeep Jain, Co-founder and Joint Managing Director of Akums, stated, “We are immensely proud of our employees who have once again demonstrated their altruism and commitment to serving the community. With a dedication to human welfare, we produce medicines, and in the same spirit of service, donating blood sustains our ethos of selfless dedication. Our goal is to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation. Through these blood donation drives; we have not only contributed to saving lives but have also reinforced our dedication to social responsibility and commitment to healthcare advancement.”

The cooperation and support extended by partner hospitals and authorities were instrumental in ensuring the effectiveness and reach of the blood donation drives. Partnering institutions included the Government Blood Bank, District Hospital Haridwar, Shri Swami Bhumanand Hospital, Government Doon Hospital Dehradun, CMS Negi Base Hospital Kotdwar, Maa Gange Blood Bank Jageetpur, Kankhal, Haridwar, Mother Teressa Blood Bank Roorkee, and Himalayan Institute, Jolly Grant, Dehradun.

Leading up to World Blood Donation Day on June 14th, this extensive drive has inspired many, with a large number of employees enthusiastically participating, serving the community, and encouraging others to fulfill their part in social responsibility. During a grand event, Shri Sandeep Jain, the co-founder and joint managing director of Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited, alongside Smt. Archana Jain, the President of Akums Health and Educational Trust (Akums Foundation), and the Chief Medical Officer, Shri Manish Dutt from Haridwar, inaugurated the program. The Blood Donation Drives organized by Akums reflect the company’s enduring values of empathy, solidarity, and compassion towards society. By actively engaging in such initiatives, Akums continues to set an example for corporate citizenship and community engagement.
