19th September 2024: A webinar on “Understanding Responsible Business Conduct in Healthcare” was held on Wednesday, 18th September 2024, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The event, organized by the UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI) and PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), with CSR Times serving as the media partner and Ethosphere as the knowledge partner, focused on exploring ethical practices and governance frameworks within the healthcare sector.

The session featured prominent speakers, including Dr. K. Madan Gopal, Advisor, Public Health Administration, National Health Systems Resource Centre, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI, who emphasized the need for organizations to align their practices with Responsible Business Conduct (RBC), highlighting key measures to overcome challenges in ethical implementation.

Ms. Sofia Garduno, Compliance Director, CARE Abogados, Mexico, addressed the importance of robust compliance frameworks in fostering transparency, sharing examples of successful strategies that enhance accountability in healthcare. Mr. APK Chettiar, Senior Advisor and Director, WhisleSentinal, drew parallels between healthcare and aviation, exploring potential RBC initiatives that could be adopted from the aviation sector. Dr. Jatinder Singh, Deputy Secretary General, PHDCCI, emphasized the critical role of industry associations in promoting ethical business practices and integrating RBC into operations. Dr. Somnath Singh, Deputy Director, UN GCNI, and the session’s moderator provided a cohesive overview of the discussion and facilitated a Q&A session, inviting suggestions for advancing the RBC initiative in healthcare. Mr. R. Venkatraman, Designated Partner, Ethosphere, delivered a vote of thanks and concluding remarks.
