GreenSole Foundation’s First Charity Event in Mumbai Inspires Action for Sustainability and Social Impact

29 November 2024: GreenSole Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to sustainability and community empowerment, hosted its first-ever charity event at St. Xavier’s College Auditorium in Mumbai on Nov 28. The event aimed to raise awareness about sustainable practices while addressing critical global challenges such as poverty, waste reduction, and environmental preservation.

The event brought together an impressive lineup of guests, including Mr. Sudhakar Sonawane (Former Mayor of Navi Mumbai), Mr. Shriyans Bhandari (Founder, GreenSole Foundation), Ms. Vineta Fernandes (Head of CSR, GreenSole Foundation), and Dr. Rajendra Shinde (Principal, St. Xavier’s College). Bhasin family from Ram Fashion Exports, one of the foundation’s corporate partners, was also in attendance.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Sudhakar Sonawane praised the foundation’s impact: “GreenSole’s efforts to provide footwear to children and its upcycling programs are excellent examples of how local solutions can address global challenges. Dr. Rajendra Shinde, Principal of St. Xavier’s College, emphasized the importance of youth participation: “Events like this inspire young minds to lead the charge in sustainability and social change. It’s an honor for our college to host such an impactful initiative.”

  • Collection Drive: Students of St. Xavier’s College organized a drive to collect old footwear and apparel, contributing to GreenSole’s upcycling initiatives.
  • Donation Drive: Recycled footwear, bags, and mats were distributed to children in need, providing essential resources to improve their daily lives.
  • Sustainability Expo: Exhibits showcased innovative eco-friendly products, including items made from upcycled footwear and apparel.
  • Rangoli & Networking: Attendees enjoyed a life-sized rangoli depicting the foundation’s beneficiaries and connected with like-minded individuals committed to social and environmental causes.

Future Vision

GreenSole Foundation aims to expand its programs to impact over one million children by 2025. The foundation plans to establish additional collection and production hubs, scale up educational initiatives on sustainability, and strengthen collaborations with global partners to amplify its efforts.
