Huhtamaki India Launches Skill Development Program for Youth in Rudrapur & Silvassa

9th December 2024: In a step that promises to transform lives and build dreams, Huhtamaki India, a leading provider of primary consumer packaging and decorative labeling solutions, and part of Huhtamaki Oyj, a Finnish-based global food packaging company, has launched a vocational training program for youth in Rudrapur and Silvassa.

In collaboration with the InShakti Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to skill development, the initiative will equip 100 young individuals – predominantly women – in Rudrapur and Silvassa with industry skills that open doors to new opportunities, nurturing hopes and creating pathways to independence.

The vocational training program is designed to bridge the skills gap in the healthcare, logistics, and apparel sectors. Each course spans 200-250 hours, ensuring comprehensive skill development tailored to industry requirements. For those pursuing healthcare, the journey involves mastering essential skills like patient care, life support, and emergency response – skills that not only create employment opportunities but also enable them to serve their communities. The logistics training enables participants with expertise in transportation documentation, supply chain management, and warehouse operations. In Silvassa, an additional course on Sewing Machine Operation in the apparel sector will be introduced to further expand opportunities. These courses are specifically designed to meet the local job market needs. They will be able to provide placement opportunities in hospitals, nursing homes, manufacturing companies, offices, and showrooms within the regions.

Commenting on this launch, Deep Banerjee, Head of HR at Huhtamaki India said, “This initiative is born from our belief that every individual deserves the chance to dream big and achieve more. By bringing industry-led skills to rural India, we’re not just training people; we’re helping them write their own success stories. When we empower youth, especially women, with the right skills, we’re not just changing their lives, we’re uplifting entire families and communities.”

Huhtamaki’s CSR initiatives are focused on touching lives through meaningful interventions in gender equality, education, women empowerment, environmental sustainability, and rural development. By offering skill development programs in Rudrapur and Silvassa the company hopes to help create a future where gender equality, economic opportunity, and self-sufficiency are within reach for all. Huhtamaki’s 2030 strategy is to drive global transformation with a key focus on safety, sustainability, and innovation.
