Bisleri International partners with Sampurn(e)arth Environment Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Material Recovery Facility in Harvalem, Goa

12th December 2024: Bisleri International Pvt Ltd in association with Sampurn(e)arth Environment Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Mineral Foundation of Goa inaugurates Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Center in Harvalem, Goa. The facility is set to process 360 MT of plastic waste annually. Bisleri’s ‘Bottles for Change’ initiative aims to divert plastic waste from landfills and promote a cleaner, more sustainable environment in the region.

The MRF Centre was inaugurated by the Hon. Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Dr. Pramod Sawant. Dignitaries including Sri Mahesh Patil, Chairman of the Goa State Pollution Control Board; Shri Ankit Yadav (IAS), Managing Director of Goa Waste Management Corporation; Smt. Guaravi Sanjay Naik at Sakali Sarpanch; Sri Ajay Malik, Panch Member, and Sri K. Ganesh, Director of Sustainability & Corporate Affairs at Bisleri International were also present.

Speaking at the inauguration, Shri Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon. Chief Minister, Goa highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating, “The Material Recovery Facility in Harvalem, in line with the Greener Goa Mission, will play a pivotal role in achieving sustainable waste management. This initiative demonstrates how public-private partnerships can effectively address pressing environmental issues. I appreciate Bisleri International for their commitment to creating cleaner ecosystems and fostering community involvement, which aligns with our vision of a greener and more sustainable Goa.”.

The facility will primarily focus on promoting 100% plastic waste segregation at the source, beginning with the Curchorem-Cacora area. In addition, Bisleri plans to engage local communities through educational campaigns and its innovative Bottles for Change app, encouraging schools, colleges, and bulk waste generators to adopt sustainable waste management practices. K. Ganesh, Director of Sustainability & Corporate Affairs at Bisleri International, expressed his company’s commitment to sustainability: “Goa’s natural beauty and vibrant culture make protecting its environment a shared responsibility. The inauguration of the Material Recovery Facility in Harvalem reinforces our commitment to Goa’s sustainable waste management efforts. Through our ‘Bottles for Change’ initiative, we aim to empower communities, institutions, and businesses to adopt effective recycling practices while fostering awareness of the circular economy. This initiative reflects Bisleri International’s dedication to environmental stewardship and positive community impact.”

Bisleri’s ‘Bottles for Change’ initiative addresses critical challenges in plastic waste management by fostering responsible plastic usage, disposal, and recycling. The program highlights the recyclability and eco-friendliness of PET bottles, reshaping perceptions around plastics as valuable resources rather than waste. Since its launch, the program has engaged over 14.6 Lac+ citizens across 32 cities, 5105 housing societies, 1513 educational institutions, 1013 Hotels and Restaurants, and 1166 corporates to drive plastic collection and segregation.
