Powai Lake - Vaishnavi MoolyaEnvironmental conservation begins with collective action and conscious efforts towards protecting the ecosystems that form the backbone of a city’s natural heritage.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, ITC Maratha, in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Angling Association (MSAA), is organizing a Powai Lake Clean-Up & Rejuvenation Drive, a focused initiative dedicated to environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable community action.

Centered around the preservation of one of Mumbai’s key ecological landmarks, the initiative aims to spotlight the urgent need for reducing plastic pollution, conserving aquatic biodiversity, and encouraging responsible environmental practices through active community participation.

Employees and volunteers from ITC Maratha, alongside MSAA members and lake workers, will participate in extensive clean-up and awareness activities at Powai Lake. The initiative will also include the felicitation of lake conservation workers, awareness sessions on biodiversity and ecology, and meaningful conversations around sustainable practices and long-term environmental responsibility.

Protecting Powai Lake is not merely an environmental responsibility but a collective commitment towards safeguarding Mumbai’s ecological future for generations to come. Through this initiative, we hope to inspire greater awareness, stronger community participation, and sustained action towards environmental conservation,” shared by ITC Maratha and MSAA.

Scheduled to take place on 5th June 2026 at Powai Lake, Mumbai, the initiative marks World Environment Day through impactful on-ground action, reinforcing a shared vision towards building a cleaner, greener, and more environmentally conscious future.
