Ahmedabad: As part of the ongoing Centennial Year Celebrations of Gujarat Law Society (GLS), GLS University successfully organized the fifth commemorative event, “Roots of Tomorrow – Tree Plantation Drive”, at the GLS Campus, Ellisbridge, Ahmedabad. The initiative reflected the University’s unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability, ecological responsibility, and the collective vision of creating a greener future.
The plantation drive witnessed the gracious presence of Shri Banchhanidhi Pani, IAS, Hon’ble Commissioner, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), as the Chief Guest. Renowned senior journalist Shri Ajay Umat also marked his presence and shared insightful thoughts on the importance of environmental stewardship, citizen participation, and the role of educational institutions in nurturing sustainable communities.
The event was led under the visionary leadership of Shri Sudhir Nanavati, President, GLS University, who joined the dignitaries in the ceremonial tree plantation and interacted warmly with students and faculty members. During the interaction, he encouraged the students to actively participate in environmental conservation initiatives and emphasized the importance of nurturing the saplings as a symbol of responsibility towards future generations. His interaction reflected GLS’s continued commitment to fostering socially responsible citizens while promoting sustainability as a shared community value.
The programme was graced by Dr. Chandni Kapadia, Executive Director, GLS University, along with members of the University Management Team, Principals, Directors, Deans, Heads of Institutions, faculty members, administrative staff, and a large gathering of enthusiastic students from various faculties of GLS University. Their collective participation transformed the plantation drive into a vibrant celebration of environmental consciousness and community engagement.
During his interaction, Shri Ajay Umat highlighted the collective responsibility of society towards preserving natural resources. He encouraged young minds to recognize that environmental protection begins with individual action and that educational institutions play a pivotal role in nurturing socially responsible citizens.
One of the most inspiring moments of the programme was the ceremonial plantation of saplings by the dignitaries, symbolizing growth, hope, and a shared commitment towards environmental preservation.
