42,819 notebooks distributed to 7,620 students across 195 government schools this year, as part of the 7th edition of the initiative
Supporting SRI-B’s vision of empowering young minds through education and equal access to learning resources
Bengaluru, Karnataka, July 06, 2026: Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore (SRI-B), one of the largest Samsung R&D center outside South Korea, has crossed a significant milestone in its education outreach efforts. With the distribution of 42,819 notebooks to 7,620 students across 195 government schools this year, SRI-B has now supported over 2 lakh students across Karnataka through the distribution of approximately 15 lakh notebooks since the initiative was first launched in 2015.
The initiative was driven by more than 100 SRI-Bians, who volunteered their time to reach schools across Kolar and personally distribute notebooks to students. Their involvement reflects SRI-B’s culture of giving back and its commitment to creating a lasting impact in the communities around it.
SRI-B believes innovation begins with education. Through its long-standing notebook donation initiative, the institute continues to bridge gaps in access to basic learning resources and help students stay engaged in their educational journey.
The notebook donation drive was first conceptualized in 2015 when Samsung employees, during visits to government schools, interacted with students to better understand the challenges they faced. Many students highlighted the lack of basic educational supplies such as notebooks and stationery despite attending school regularly. Recognizing this gap, employees at SRI-B came together to launch a notebook donation initiative aimed at supporting education and encouraging students to remain in school.
“At SRI-B, innovation and education go hand in hand. As engineers and innovators, we understand the transformative power of learning. A notebook may appear simple, but for a child it represents opportunity, confidence, and the freedom to dream. Through this initiative, we hope to empower students with the resources they need to write their own success stories and build a brighter future,” said Mohan Rao Goli, Managing Director and Corporate Vice President, Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore.
Over the years, SRI-B’s contribution to government schools has extended beyond notebooks. The institute has donated tablets, student desks, flipboards, school kits, and RO water filters to schools across Karnataka. SRI-B has also undertaken infrastructure development initiatives, including repainting government schools, rebuilding a government school in Kembodi, and most recently carrying out a facelift of the Government Higher Primary School in Bodenahalli.
The notebook donation drive is part of SRI-B’s broader commitment to creating meaningful social impact through education. By supporting access to essential learning resources and improving school infrastructure, SRI-B continues to contribute towards building stronger educational foundations and enabling brighter futures for students across Karnataka.
