ROING/DIBANG VALLEY (ARUNACHAL PRADESH), JULY 09, 2026 – Under the aegis of the 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project, NHPC Limited successfully organized a one-day Horticulture Training Program alongside a Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR training session. Held on July 9, 2026, at the Government Primary School in Ranli, Dibang Valley District, the socio-economic outreach program was executed under the guidance and directives of Shri Narendra Kumar, Project Head and Executive Director. The initiative, organized in collaboration with the district administration, aimed to enhance the sustainable livelihoods of local stakeholders and farmers while equipping them with vital life-saving skills.
The interactive sessions drew approximately 45 participants, including the local Zilla Parishad Member (ZPM), village heads (Gaon Burha and Gaon Burhi), members of project-affected families (PAFs), and local farmers. Highlighting the technical sessions, prominent subject matter experts from the Central Agricultural University (Imphal) provided specialized training. Dr. Sidharudha Margal (Assistant Professor, Vegetable Science) trained farmers on seed selection, seasonal crops, and protected cultivation techniques with a specific focus on garlic and onion farming. Concurrently, Dr. N. Devchandra (Assistant Professor, Fruit Science) provided hands-on training and live demonstrations on establishing commercial orchards, canopy management, and scientific pruning methods. Additionally, Dr. Nagendra Mohan Prasad, a certified CPR expert and consultant, led the Basic Life Support session, providing practical emergency response and stabilization skills to the attendees.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Gaurav Kumar, General Manager (NHPC), welcomed the participants on behalf of the corporation and detailed the various community development initiatives spearheaded under NHPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework. He urged the farming community to maximize the benefits of these expert-led programs and expressed deep gratitude to the local families and the district administration for their absolute cooperation in ensuring the steady progress of the Dibang Multipurpose Project. Shri Deepak Ratan Sagar, Project Head of the Etalin Project, also graced the occasion with his presence alongside senior NHPC officials, including Shri Isaac Vungkhanlal (Group Senior Manager, HR), Shri Hemam Dhanshyam Singh (Group Senior Manager, Environment), and Vikas Kumar (Trainee Officer, Public Relations). The administrative coordination was seamlessly anchored by Shri Anmol Singh, Circle Officer of Dibang Valley District.
Delivering the concluding vote of thanks, Shri Ashish Saxena, Deputy General Manager (Civil/CSR), reiterated NHPC’s commitment to making local communities self-reliant by introducing modern agricultural methodologies that maximize the region’s rich agro-climatic potential. He extended appreciation for the collaborative support from the management, acknowledging the guidance provided by Shri Vijay K. Lakra, General Manager (HR). To enable immediate field implementation of the training, NHPC distributed orange and dragon fruit saplings, agricultural tools, and high-yield onion seeds sufficient for one acre of cultivation to all participating farmers at the close of the event.
