THDC India Limited (THDCIL), a premier power sector enterprise under the joint venture of NTPC Limited and the Government of Uttar Pradesh, has consistently demonstrated innovation, inclusivity, and impact in its CSR approach. The organization has consciously evolved from conventional charity-based interventions to a theme-based, impact-driven development model that aligns closely with national priorities and global development goals.
CSR planning at THDCIL is seamlessly integrated with its business strategies and operational planning. Initiatives are identified through systematic need assessment, planned in advance with defined milestones, and supported by pre-estimated financial and human resources within the approved CSR budget. Projects are categorized into long-term, medium-term, and short-term interventions to ensure structured implementation, effective monitoring, and measurable outcomes.
To bring coherence and focus, THDCIL has categorized its CSR strategy into nine thematic verticals:
- THDC Niramaya (Health) – Nutrition, health, sanitation, and drinking water
- THDC Jagriti (Education) – Holistic education support
- THDC Daksh (Skill) – Livelihood and skill development
- THDC Utthan (Rural Development) – Infrastructure for inclusive growth
- THDC Samarth (Empowerment) – Women empowerment
- THDC Saksham (Aged & Differently Abled) – Special care initiatives
- THDC Prakriti (Environment) – Environmental protection
- THDC Virasat (Culture) – Cultural heritage conservation
- THDC Krida (Sports) – Sports infrastructure and promotion
This thematic framework enables THDCIL to deliver focused, replicable, and high-impact CSR interventions across geographies.
During FY 2025–26, THDCIL significantly strengthened healthcare services by operating an allopathic dispensary at Deengaon serving nearly 15,000 people, supporting healthcare infrastructure, organizing eye camps and medical camps, implementing TB nutrition support, promoting sanitation and menstrual hygiene awareness, and enhancing access to safe drinking water through public sanitation facilities and RO plants.
In education, THDCIL supported three schools benefiting over 900 students and upgraded educational infrastructure through computers, furniture, hostel facilities, and school infrastructure. Under skill development, the Company sponsored ANM training for girls, conducted computer training for rural youth, and facilitated internships under the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme.
Rural development initiatives included construction of roads, community halls, playgrounds, installation of high mast lights, and farmer awareness programmes.
Women empowerment efforts trained 430 women in tailoring and beautician courses while the “THDC Mission Shakti” programme focused on building confidence and life skills among adolescent girls.
THDCIL also promoted cultural heritage through support for traditional art, music, and heritage infrastructure, while sports development was strengthened through the Tehri Water Sports Cup 2025 and community sports initiatives. Through these integrated interventions, THDCIL continues to create inclusive, need-based, and measurable socio-economic impact across its project-affected and aspirational areas.
