Ludhiana, Punjab, India, October 27, 2026: CNH, a global leader in agriculture and construction equipment, today marked a decade of its crop residue management CSR initiative, which began at Kallar Majri village in Punjab and is now a national program, and announced the opening of a dedicated parts warehouse in Ludhiana. These initiatives underscore CNH’s commitment to advancing crop residue management solutions by bringing mechanization, reliable aftermarket support, and sustainable farming practices closer to farmers across India.

Mr. Narinder Mittal, President and Managing Director, CNH India said, “Sustainable farming practices require access to the right machinery and timely support. In regions where the window between paddy harvest and wheat sowing is short, tractors, balers and genuine parts are critical to managing crop residue without burning. The decade journey from Kallar Majri to a national program reflects the impact of collective efforts, while our new Ludhiana warehouse further strengthens the support for farmers during critical seasons. We remain committed to improving agricultural productivity while advancing sustainable farming practices.”

From Kallar Majri to a national program

Launched in October 2017 with Kallar Majri as the first location, this CSR initiative was subsequently brought under CNH’s broader Sustainable Environment Solution (SES) program. Kallar Majri has maintained its zero-stubble-burning status for 10 consecutive years.

What began in a single village in Punjab has grown into a national program spanning 25 locations across 11 states, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand , more recently Sindhanoor and Hubli in Karnataka, Gudur Manal in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh and Lalgudi in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.

Since inception, approximately 60,000 tons of paddy straw have been baled under the program, that has prevented burning of residue of nearly 39900 acres of land amounting to over 7500 farmer benefitting from this effort.  An estimated 97,000 tons of CO₂ emissions was prevented. Over 16,000–20,000 family members/villagers were the indirect beneficiaries. Over 3,000–4,000 farmers have attended demonstrations in 25 different locations across the country who have been encouraged to adapt Sustainable Straw Management Solutions.

In India since 1998, New Holland pioneered the baling of crop residue in the country, and CNH today offers a crop residue management range that includes New Holland tractors, combine harvesters, square and round balers, gyro rakes, mulchers, choppers and forage harvesters.

Bringing parts and service closer to farmers

In line with its support to crop residue management and ensuring efficiency during the short harvesting period, a new parts warehouse in Ludhiana has been established to strengthen aftermarket support for customers in Punjab and Haryana. Dedicated to the parts requirements of Big Tractors and Balers, the facility ensures timely availability of genuine CNH parts, helping customers maximize machine uptime during critical farming seasons. The warehouse operates seven days a week. A dedicated GPS-enabled transportation fleet with real-time shipment tracking is designed to deliver parts within 24 hours to most customer locations, reducing lead times and machine downtime. The warehouse complements CNH’s India network of 600+ dealers and over 1,000 touchpoints.

The two milestones reflect CNH’s broader approach of using its technology, expertise, and partnerships to address real-world challenges in agriculture. With manufacturing, R&D and distribution presence in India, CNH remains focused on delivering technology-led crop solutions that support farmers’ evolving needs while contributing to more sustainable agricultural practices.
