Chennai | July 8, 2026:
Demonstrating its commitment to strengthening India’s Public healthcare ecosystem, Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited, has upgraded the Intensive Surgical Care Unit at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH), Chennai, through advanced critical care equipment, capacity building and technical support under its flagship health care initiative Sparsh Sanjeevani.

The ₹3.07 crore intervention has enabled the installation of 169 advanced medical devices, including ICU beds, ventilators, defibrillators, multiparameter monitors and an ultrasound machine, along with installation, commissioning and hands on training for healthcare professional.

The support is aimed at enhancing the hospital’s critical care capabilities and improving patient outcomes. RGGGH, one of India’s largest government hospitals, caters to over 10,000 outpatients daily, making it a vital healthcare institution for thousands of patients across Tamil Nadu.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Gopalakrishnan C S, Trustee, Hyundai Motor India Foundation, said, “Strong healthcare systems are fundamental to building a stronger nation. Through this intervention, HMIF is strengthening the capacity of one of Tamil Nadu’s premier government hospitals with advanced medical technology and skilled clinical support. Our endeavour is to empower healthcare professionals with better infrastructure so that more patients receive timely, high-quality treatment. This initiative reflects Hyundai’s commitment to creating lasting social value through our global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’.”

Healthcare is one of HMIF’s core focus areas. Through Sparsh Sanjeevani, the foundation partners with government health institutions to improve healthcare infrastructure, strengthen critical care services and enhance access to quality healthcare for underserved communities.  Today Sparsh Sanjeevani operates across 16 states through Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) and Telemedicine centres.  In Tamil Nadu, HMIF has supported government healthcare facilities in Cuddalore district with Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances and critical care equipment and two MMUs.

Expanding Hyundai’s healthcare ecosystem, HMIL recently launched Hyundai Hope for Cancer in partnership with IIT Madras to establish India’s first community-focused cancer tissue biobank, supporting the Bharat Cancer Genome Atlas and improving access to cancer care for economically vulnerable patients. Together, these efforts are helping build a more accessible, resilient and future-ready healthcare ecosystem for India
