IIT BOMBAY’S EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH INITIATIVE –  WISE, RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM TECNIMONT PVT.LTD.

1 June, 2023: Girls from the rural parts of India, will now receive funding support from Tecnimont Pvt.Ltd, in engineering and science disciplines through IIT Bombay’s educational outreach initiative – WISE. TCMPL or Tecnimont Private Limited, is a subsidiary of MAIRE Group.

Prof. Rajesh Zele, from IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Bombay is leading this initiative which involves 165 girls. These girls will be encouraged to go through a week long intensive residential programme at IIT Bombay in STEM as part of their higher education. This activity forms a part of MAIRE Group’s sustainability strategy, more specifically focused on value creation for the communities and territories covered under MAIRE’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Valentina Grieco, MAIRE Group CSR Senior Specialist mentioned that the project WISE was specially focused on the rural areas of India, such as Bihar, Odisha and Maharashtra, to facilitate confidence building in adolescent girls in subjects like science and mathematics.  TCMPL seeks to help the adolescent girls in combatting the educational challenges and make education interesting for both the students and parents so as to ensure enrolments for the higher standards.

Prof. Zele said that this programme supports communities and students from remote areas too were included. After the week long programme at IIT Bombay the process of interaction with their peers and their mentors would continue for these girls. This programme would contribute significantly to the future careers of the girls.
