Mumbai, 15th April 2026: Birla Opus Paints, part of the Aditya Birla Group, makes strong progress in its sustainability agenda in FY 2025–26 with measurable gains in resource efficiency, circular economy practices, and responsible manufacturing. Sustainability remains embedded across the design and operations of its manufacturing ecosystem, guided by a 360-degree approach centred on reduce, reuse, recycle, and recovery.

In FY 2025–26, Birla Opus Paints recycled over 490 Lac litres of water back into its processes, while harvesting and utilising more than 810 Lac litres of rainwater across its manufacturing facilities, reducing dependence on freshwater sources. Driving its circular economy practices, Birla Opus Paints also implemented advanced wash water reuse systems across plants, enabling the reuse of about 96 Lac litters of during manufacturing processes. Additionally, the company successfully reused approximately 58 metric tonnes of wash solvent, reducing dependence on virgin solvent, and lowering hazardous waste generation and disposal cost.

With a focus on decarbonisation, Birla Opus Paints is transitioning from diesel to cleaner fuel alternatives such as PNG, CNG, and LPG across all six manufacturing sites. The Ludhiana and Panipat plants are already operating on renewable energy, with a roadmap to scale renewable energy capacity to around 11 MW across five of its six plants by FY 2026–27.

The company has also made steady progress in sustainable packaging. It uses 100% recycled materials for cartons and has incorporated approximately 30% recycled content in paint pails, with plans to further increase this share over time, supporting the broader goal of reducing environmental impact across product packaging.

Speaking on the company’s sustainability progress, Ajith Kumar, Chief Operating Officer, Birla Opus Paints, said, “At Birla Opus Paints, sustainability is a core principle that shapes how we build, operate, and scale our business. Our focus on water conservation, circular resource use, cleaner energy adoption, and sustainable packaging reflects our commitment to responsible growth.
