Bengaluru– Crowdfunding platform Ketto has enabled timely and continued medical care for three-year-old Harsh Sharma, a Bengaluru-based toddler who suffered life-threatening injuries following a fall from the fourth floor of his residence earlier this year.
The accident, which occurred on February 1, left Harsh with severe head trauma, multiple injuries across his body and two fractured legs. He was admitted to Manipal HAL Hospital, Bengaluru, where he required immediate intensive care, including neurological intervention, continuous monitoring and long-term rehabilitation involving brain stimulation and physical retraining.
As the family focused on his survival, the financial burden escalated rapidly.
Within a short period, treatment expenses crossed ₹20 lakh, with doctors estimating an additional ₹30 lakh to support ongoing care and recovery. With a single earning member and limited financial resources, the family turned to Ketto to seek urgent support.
Through the platform, contributions from thousands of donors across the country were mobilised, enabling uninterrupted access to critical treatment during the most crucial phase of Harsh’s recovery.
The timely support played a key role in ensuring that medical intervention was not delayed. Harsh is now showing signs of recovery under continued medical supervision and rehabilitation, marking a significant step forward after a critical phase.
His case highlights the growing role of digital crowdfunding in bridging urgent healthcare funding gaps, particularly in emergency situations where timely access to treatment can significantly influence outcomes. Platforms like Ketto are increasingly enabling families to access wider communities of support beyond their immediate networks.
Commenting on the impact, Varun Sheth, CEO & Co-Founder, Ketto, said: “In critical situations such as this, timely access to treatment can make a meaningful difference to recovery outcomes. What Ketto enables is the ability for families to quickly mobilise support when they need it most. Harsh’s journey reflects how thousands of individuals can come together to support life-saving care and ensure continuity of treatment during highly time-sensitive situations. It is this collective spirit that continues to drive our platform.”
For Harsh’s family, the support extended through Ketto has been instrumental in navigating one of the most challenging phases of his treatment, allowing them to focus on his recovery.
The case highlights how technology-led platforms, combined with community generosity, are playing an increasingly important role in improving access to critical healthcare across India.
