THE SUPER SUPPORT

“Life has a way of kicking us when we’re down. And just when we think we can’t fall any lower, we get kicked again. But it’s important to remember that set backs, failures, and tragedy are a part of life. Whether we manage to find joy and success in the daily struggle of life is largely dependent on our ability to persevere through even the toughest adversity without ever giving up.”

My name is Priyakhee Kachariand I hail from a small town, Golaghat in Assam. I stay in a nuclear family with my father Dhaneshwar Kachari, mother Ela Kachari and an elder sister Anuradha Kachari. My family plays a vital role in my life and for my success. My father is a farmer and my family depends on the earnings from farming, which does not have much surplus to take care of the entire family. I have seen hardship of life from very close. During my early childhood, I experienced a lot of scarcity. Slowly I adopted it as a part of my life. From studies to hobbies, I had to fend for myself for everything. My parents had to manage everything. They wanted to provide a quality education to me and my elder sister but receiving a quality education was an absolute dream for us. I started off my schooling from a government school but I worked a lot all day so that I could enroll myself into Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) as it could give a sound environment for studies. Luckily I qualified the entrance examination and got admitted in JNV Golaghat. It was a great relief to my family as I was able to get a good and quality education free of cost, which would not have been possible otherwise. It was a turning point in my life as I realized the importance of gaining knowledge and also scoring good marks made my parents smile. And this continuous progress of mine bought immense happiness in my parents lives. And it was then that I heard about IIT and I seriously had no idea about it but still I wanted to go for it. And if I would not have been in JNV, I might have lost the chance of coaching in Super 30 and my dream would have faded away.

When I was in class XII, I appeared for selection test for Super 30 held in my school. It never came to my mind that I will clear the written examination and would get a call for the viva round. I went for the viva and finally occupied a place in Oil India Super 30, Jorhat for the batch 2016-2017. I was overwhelmed with joy. It was a major stepping stone as it completely changed my life and helped meet my goals.

I was filled with mixed feelings on entering Oil India Super 30. Entered the centre with full of anxiety, fear, hope and a zeal to do well and live up to the expectations of my parents and my teachers. Those 11 months at Oil India Super 30, Jorhat was the golden period of my life. It helped me build lifelong relationships, beautiful memories, successful stories and much more. This was exactly my place as I could not have prepared well because I lacked the peaceful environment and resources. Achieving something in life was not easy for a person hailing from a family whose savings were not sufficient to meet all needs.

Oil India Super 30, Jorhat provided us with the right kind of environment with complete peace and all the necessary resources for making it through the IIT/JEE exams in the first attempt. I cleared the JEE MAINS in the first round itself and then cleared the JEE ADVANCE with a better score. And this made me get through to IIT Kanpur. Oil India Super 30, Jorhat provided us with a good academic surrounding, intelligent batch mates, dedicated and skilled teachers well versed in books, test series and thorough counselling. The best part with Super 30 is that the journey continues even after getting into IIT Kanpur. Reality was hard and it was also quite difficult to keep my dream alive of becoming an engineer. Coming from a small place and from a family whose earnings could only meet the daily needs, it wasn’t easy for someone to think about it. But my admission in Super 30, Jorhat opened all the doors in life. And now, when I look back at times and think about the past from within the premises kof IIT Kanpur, I say to myself, “It wouldn’t have been possible without CSRL and OIL India.” Something beyond my reach once, has been made true through the coaching and guidance I received at OIL Super 30, Jorhat. I thank the entire team of CSRL and Oil India Super 30, Jorhat for the prolonged association with us and giving us wings to achieve our dreams. They have a great contribution in shaping my future which would not have been possible for me alone.
