19 May, 2023: Global lubricant manufacturer Valvoline Cummins Private Limited (“Valvoline Cummins”), organised a green drive week with a theme ‘Sustainability, Nature and the Pollinator.’ This initiative that was aimed at creating a more sustainable and resilient world, encouraged all employees, associates and distributors to work together to cherish and value our planet Earth.
A tree plantation drive at Valvoline India’s manufacturing facility in Ambernath, Maharashtra was undertaken during this initiative. The event saw employees planting trees in the periphery of the company. The children of the channel partners, employees, mechanics, drivers, and students who had received a scholarship under the Muskan Scholarship program by Valvoline participated in a poster making competition.
A visit to a nursery in Gurugram in association with the NGO “IAMGURGAON” to instill an awareness about the native species was organized. This visit formed a part of the employee engagement initiative for the HQ employees. Subsequent to this visit, a series of activities was organized to bring the employees closer to the environment and nature.
Mr. Gaurav Dang, Director Valvoline Cummins, leading the CSR strategy in India said that at Valvoline Cummins they were committed to promoting a sustainable future for all. As a responsible corporate citizen, they believed in adopting environmental friendly measures to promote a healthy ecosystem. Their efforts towards sustainability ranged from responsible sourcing and manufacturing to promoting the use of eco-friendly products and minimizing waste. He further added that they were proud to be leading the way towards a cleaner and greener tomorrow.
Mr. Sandeep Kalia, Managing Director, Valvoline Cummins, elaborated that the company is committed to developing, manufacturing and producing lubricants that adhere to high environmental requirements. These are carried out while using the best production practices in the industry, conserving resources such as water and energy and minimizing waste.
He mentioned that Valvoline had collected back 5800 MT of plastic waste from the market in the last 2 years and had sent the same for recycling. He also went on to add how the company was working closely with suppliers and partners to promote sustainable practices throughout their supply chain. “Jalashay Project” a CSR initiative of Valvoline, is aimed at enhancing the storage capacity, availability, and access of water in the six water-stressed villages near the company’s manufacturing plant at Ambernath. The “Native Plants Nursery Raising Project” of the company apart from raising awareness, brings people closer to nature and is a positive step towards a greener environment.
