PRESS RELEASE Diageo India, a leading beverage alcohol company, as part of its community project, has helped set up mushroom production units at Allipur and Bergispentha villages in Odisha. The units would be run by women, empowering them to become self-reliant and earn a livelihood. The mushroom production units were inaugurated in the presence of Diageo Gopalpur plant head K. Jay Krishna, HR Manager Akshaya, Narayanpur Grampanchayat Sarapanch Himansu Prasad Rao, Samity Sabhya of Rangelunda block V.Sarbeswar Rao and Professor Mr. Suresh Behera, Berahampur University along with other project members from the village. PRESS RELEASE Story Weaver, an initiative of Pratham Books, a not-for-profit publisher, announced the creation of hyperlocal libraries for children to promote and preserve children’s literature in Konkani, Bhoti and Haryanvi, in observance of International Mother Language Day. World over, around half of the seven thousand spoken languages are feared to die by the end of the present century. In India alone, 197 languages are classified as vulnerable or endangered. Cognizant of the threat of extinction looming large on many leading languages, International Mother Language Day (IMLD) is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity, and promote multilingualism.  

PRESS RELEASE SBI Foundation and Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (AYJNISHD), Mumbai, brought smiles in the faces of 50 children born with profound hearing loss. SBI Foundation provided the cost of Cochlear Implants and post-operative rehabilitation under their CSR Project SBI-Shravan Shakti to AYJNISHD. During an event organised on May 18, Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairman of State Bank of India presented an amount of Rs 2.65 crore to Dr A.K. Sinha, Director of AYJNISHD, for providing Cochlear implants to 50 children from West Bengal.
