New Delhi, 24th December, 2021: The Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy (CSIP), Ashoka University, and Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (CBGA) have conducted a study on the relationship between tax incentives and philanthropic giving. The study compares India’s incentive policy with that of 11 countries, namely Bangladesh, Brazil, China, France, Mexico, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, UK and US, selected for the diversity of their economic status and models. India falls somewhere in the middle because the rate of incentives offered has declined due to tax policy changes of 2017 and the introduction of a ‘dual tax structure’ in 2020. The portal enables people with visual impairments access the website using assistive technologies, such as screen readers. Kolkata, 10 December 2021: After a successful stint in Chhattisgarh, mjunction services limited, India’s largest B2B e-commerce company, has launched Project Jyoti, its unique initiative for visually-challenged school students, in West Bengal, in collaboration with the Government of West Bengal. In the first phase, nearly 45 special educators from Kolkata, South 24 Parganas and East Medinipur, and 30 select students of classes 9 to 11 with low vision from East Medinipur, were trained in accessible reading of West Bengal State Board textbooks using Android devices. New Delhi, 7th December 2021: Thanks to Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Education Trust, Ambuja Cement Foundation (ACF) was able to install a CNC plasma cutting machine at its Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Institute (SEDI) in Ambujanagar and Chandrapur to encourage girls’ participation in machine operations and manufacturing and an AI Lab in SEDI Bhagwanpur offering advanced skills to rural youth. This partnership with Sir Mathuradas Vissanji aims to break gender stereotypes by inviting girls to get skilled in male-dominated areas.
