May 17, 2024: The Flipkart Foundation, the CSR arm of the Flipkart Group, in collaboration with SankalpTaru Foundation, India’s largest IT-enabled environmental NGO, has embarked on a transformative initiative dedicated to the preservation of the mangrove ecosystem in Sundarbans, West Bengal. Over a period of 36 months, the ‘Community-Based Mangrove Plantation and Restoration project’ aims to establish a continuous mangrove restoration ecosystem spanning an area of 6 acres. It strives to enhance coastal protection, water quality, and biodiversity by planting 35,000 saplings. The initiative focuses not only on sapling plantation, and community engagement, but also on generating employment opportunities among local communities, and enabling small farmers’ access to a wider economy. 29th February 2024: The transformation of 3.8 acres of former industrial dumping grounds into a flourishing Biodiversity Park in Noida’s Phase 2, IDEMIA India Foundation is delighted to showcase our steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare. In collaboration with the Noida Authority and the Give Me Trees Foundation, our team has successfully planted 15,000 trees comprising over 70 diverse species, marking a significant milestone in enriching the ecological landscape of the region. Previously it was tarnished by its industrial dumping yard history, the site presented daunting challenges, including deep-seated industrial chemicals and accumulated debris. 22nd February 2024: In a concerted effort to encourage environmental sustainability and combat climate change, Sembcorp’s subsidiaries, Green Infra Wind Energy Ltd (GIWEL) and Green Infra Solar Energy Ltd, have joined forces with the Enviro Creators Foundation (ECF) to launch an ambitious urban afforestation initiative in Bhuj, Gujarat. The project, situated at the Smritivan Earthquake Memorial Museum, aims to transform the landscape using the dense Miyawaki Japanese method, planting 10,000 saplings as the cornerstone of a burgeoning green ecosystem. Over the next three years, Sembcorp will collaborate closely with ECF to ensure the meticulous upkeep of the site, encompassing essential maintenance activities such as deweeding, manuring, mulching, and watering. 15th November 2023 : Academic institution – Galgotias University executed an environmental initiative recently, titled “3G – Galgotias Goes Green.” This registered the planting of over 10,000 trees within a duration of just 48 hours. Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, the CEO of Galgotias University, spearheaded this event, which witnessed a large turnout in terms of participation from students, faculty, and alumni. This initiative also marked the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Individuals were encouraged to contribute to this environmental cause by planting trees in their homes or offices and share their geo-tagged pictures with the university. 2 November, 2023: The teachers and learners of the JBCN International School, Parel joined hands recently, to successfully execute a tree plantation drive at Kalamb which is located approximately 100 kms from Mumbai. This initiative went a long way in supporting their local community and a larger cause of nature. Forests of Hopefulness, an environmental NGO supported the initiative. The successful event highlighted the commitment that the youth today have as custodians or protectors of the environment for the future generations. This collaboration saw numerous saplings being planted, which included 19 different medicinal plants and trees that were carefully selected to enhance the local ecosystem.                                            26th October,2023: North Gujarat faces a pressing issue if water scarcity, and Energy Maharatna ONGC, has stepped in to successfully execute an innovative project. This novel project makes potable water from waste water that is released by its Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP.) The water starved region of North Gujarat, through this successful pilot will be ensured of the availability of clean water for both, industrial as well as agricultural purposes.
